Tarik Saleh has, together with Erik Gandini, directed several award-winning documentaries including GITMO – New Rules of War (2005), and Sacrificio – Who Betrayed Che Guevara? (2001). He is one of the founders of Atmo, and formed Atmo Animation which has gone on to write and produce over 30 short animation films. His artistic talent came from his earlier carrier as a Graffiti Artist being part of the internationally acclaimed All In One crew. His murals can still be spotted in suburbs west of Stockholm. He has gone on to write and produce two television drama series, started the legendary Swedish magazine Atlas and served as art director for the Egyptian documentary magazine Alive.

Michèle Lemieux began working as an illustrator in the late 1970s. For five years she worked in Germany, where she published her first books. Since 1988, the year she returned to Montreal, she has worked as a professor at UQAM’s École de design. Her illustrated books have been translated into more than twenty languages and have earned her many international awards, the most notable being the Bologna Ragazzi Award - the highest international honour in children's literature – in 1997. Many of her books have been made into films or performed on stage. She spent 2000 through 2002 at the National Film Board of Canada, creating an animated film based on her book Stormy Night. In 2004, this film garnered the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, as well as the prize for the best children’s film in Stuttgart, Germany. Her work has been seen in many exhibitions throughout Europe, North and South America and Japan.

Marcel Jean became director of the Animation Studio in the French Program of the National Film Board of Canada in 1999 and produced several internationally recognized films: Martine Chartrand's Black Soul (winner of twenty-two prizes including the Golden Bear in Berlin), Patrick Bouchard's The Brainwashers (2002, five awards), Michèle Lemieux's Stormy Night (2003, twelve awards, including the Crystal Bear in Berlin), Michèle Cournoyer's Accordion (2004, screened in competition at the Cannes Festival, prize winner in Leipzig and Dresden). Marcel Jean believes in a pro-active policy of international co-production which has led him to co-produce films by the Norwegian director Pjotr Sapegin (Aria, 2001, ten awards); Through My Thick Glasses, (2004, twelve awards), the Dane Lejf Marcussen (Angeli, 2002, prize winner in Zagreb), the Portuguese Abi Feijo (Stowaway, 2000, eight awards), the Swiss Georges Schwizgebel (L'homme sans ombre, 2004, twelve awards; Jeu, 2006, prizes in Hiroshima and Ottawa) and French director Philippe Jullien (Ruzz and Ben, 2005). Under his aegis the NFB linked up with the French studio Folimage to create a residence program for animation filmmakers. Among such co-productions are, most notably, Carles Porta Garcia's Francesc lo Valent (2002, four awards), Isabelle Favez's Circuit marine (2003, five awards) and Regina Pessoa's Tragic Story with a Happy Ending (2005). Marcel Jean left the National Film Board of Canada in 2005 to set up his own production company.

Joan Ashworth is an artist/ filmmaker whose animated films have explored gothic fantasy, swimming meadows, and the fertility of mermaids. Her films have been screened at international festivals and events winning a number of awards and commendations. Ashworth has a background in making commissioned titles, commercials and graphic identities for cinema and TV, and more recently focused on her own short films, and collaborative research projects such as CHILDSPLA. Ashworth also heads up the internationally renowned MA Animation Programme at the Royal College of Art, which she joined in 1994. Ashworth has lectured internationally in Taiwan, China, Trinidad and India and is developing Serious Animation as an area of research. She is developing Visual Writing to support the creative developments in writing for animation.

Frédéric Back is an internationally acclaimed and renowned Canadian artist, caricaturist, educator and activist, a winner of a host of international awards, four-time Oscar nominee and twice the winner – for his films Crac! and Man Who Planted Trees. His overall work consists of nine films; critics call them masterpieces of animated art. All of them are inspired by themes such as environmental protection, evolution, Quebecoise social heritage and Native American legends.

Natjecanje filmova za djecu na rasporedu je u 15h i 18h dok vas u 20 sati očekuju filmovi iz programa Iz svjetskih studija - Aardman. Njihovi međunarodno poznati spotovi, jos poznatiji kratki filmovi jamče dvije urnebesne projekcije uz obilje britanskog humora.
Seven films from the Folimage children’s programme are scheduled for 10am at the Movieplex, while Raining Cats and Frogs, the first feature-length work of the same studio will be screened at 1pm. The fact that it took more than six years of work to complete the project testifies of its comprehensiveness. Children’s Competition is scheduled for 3pm and 6pm, while at 8pm the programme entitled World Studios – Aardman will be screened. Their internationally acclaimed videos and even more popular short films guarantee two hilarious screenings complete with loads of British humour. The programme ends with the 10pm screening of the Grand Competition entries.
