A ben vedere, l’unica nota dolente di questo 2017 è legata alla gelata del 19 Aprile, la quale ha particolarmente colpito il vigneto di Groppello a Macesina e quello delle uve bianche proprio sotto la Cantina, riducendone fortemente la produzione.

Actually, the only really sour note of this 2017 season was the freeze on 19 April, which did much damage to the Groppello vineyard in Macesina and to the white-grape vineyards right below the winecellar, significantly reducing the crops there. All the wines, on the other hand, show good quality. This is particularly true for the reds from the last grapes to be brought in; we wouldn’t want to go overboard, but we are really in love with a couple of vats…

The 2007 Nepomuceno, our highly individual blend of Merlot, Marzemino and Rebo was bottled one week ago, ready for the long period of bottle-ageing that normally precedes its release onto the market. In the style of this wine – whilst its typically substantial body and concentrated structure remain constant – the over-ripe notes are increasingly giving way to the freshness of the fruit, a consequence in particular of a more discriminating use of very ripe grapes. We think that the 2007 was an excellent vintage and we therefore hold out great expectations for this wine…
