Nel territorio di Bolzano, sui terreni ghiaiosi e fangosi alla confluenza tra l’Adige, l’Isarco e il Talvera, le uve Lagrein trovano condizioni perfette. L’antico vitigno autoctono rappresenta una varietà vigorosa e di grande resa.

In the region of Bolzano, on the fertile gravelled flood plains at the confluence of Adige, Isarco and Talvera, the Lagrein grape benefits from perfect growing conditions. This ancient, native variety is a vigorous vine with a high yield. The vine bears cone-shaped, black grapes that produce an essence-rich and storable wine. Outside South Tyrol small pockets of Lagrein grow also in Trentino. In all other wine-producing regions in the world this grape is virtually unknown.

Im Bozner Gebiet, auf dem fruchtbaren Schotter-Schwemmland am Zusammenfluss von Etsch, Eisack und Talfer, findet der Lagrein die besten Wachstumsbedingungen. Die uralte, bodenständige Sorte ist starkwüchsig, mit hohem Ertrag. Der Stock trägt kegelförmige, schwarzblaue Trauben, die einen extraktreichen, tiefdunklen und lagerfähigen Wein ergeben. Außer in Südtirol wird noch etwas Lagrein im Trentino angepflanzt. In den übrigen weinproduzierenden Gebieten der Welt ist diese Sorte so gut wie unbekannt.
