Wanneer bijvoorbeeld een visum of arbeidskaart aangevraagd wordt, kan een diploma vertaling gevraagd worden. De vertaling dient te gebeuren door een beëdigd vertaler. Een lijst van beëidgde vertalers kan bekomen worden bij de Belgische ambassades van het thuisland, de rechtbank van eerste aanleg of gebeuren via Linguapolis.
The Belgian government requests that diplomas are provided in one of the following languages: Dutch, English, French or German. When applying for a visa or a work permit, a translation of your diploma might be necessary. This needs to be done by a certified translator. A list of translators can be requested at the Belgian embassy of your home country or it can be done by Linguapolis. On the website of the Belgian government more information can be found on legalisation of documents.

Aan Imperial - waar ik een tijd plaatsvervangend departementshoofd was - en aan UCL, maar sinds 2006 ook aan (HI)VT, nu Toegepaste Taalkunde aan UA, geef ik als AAP les over lokalisatie en vertaaltechnologie. De ervaring op dit vlak komt enerzijds vanuit mijn verleden in de bedrijfswereld (Blondé, Decathlon, Yamagata Europe), anderzijds als freelance vertaler (vnl. voor Golazo).
At Imperial - where I have been an acting section head for an albeit brief period - and UCL, but since 2006 also at (HI)VT, now Applied Linguistics at UA, I have been lecturing on localisation (OUP says 'localization') and translation technologies. Experience in this field stems from a past in the world of international corporations as well as from being a freelance translator. In the broader field of language and translation technologies, for several years I acted as evaluator for DG CONNECT and assessed many project applications within FP7 and Horizon 2020. Based on practical experience, but also drawing from education and research, I have been representing the department at European level (networks such as Optimale, EMT and Lind-Web). Within the field of translation and language technologies, I have taught at Lille LEAIII and Lessius as well. Most of guest lectures were at several universities in England. I contributed several entries and chapters for the Oxford Handbook of Translation Studies and the Routledge Encyclopedia of Translation Technology.

Het onderzoek richt zich op de vertaling van fanfiction door lezer / vertalers in het Portugees. In tegenstelling tot de auteur / lezer , die het verhaal verderschrijft of wijzigt om andere lezers te behagen , maakt de lezer / vertaler de tekst beschikbaar voor het Braziliaanse / Portugese publiek.
The research focuses on the translation of fanfiction by reader/translators into Portuguese. Unlike the author/reader, who continues the story or modifies it in order to please other readers, the reader/translator makes the text available to the Brazilian / Portuguese public. This task is accomplished in collaboration with the reviewer, also called beta -reader, who is the 'second reader ' of the translation process . Translated fanfiction is the result of a double process of rewriting - both by fans (the author/readers) who take characters from other authors and use them in new parallel stories, as by the translator because, according to Lefevere (1992 ), to translate 'is the most obviously recognizable type of rewriting, and potentially the most influential because it is able to project the image of an author and/or a (series of) work (s) in another culture, lifting that author and/or those works beyond the boundaries of their culture of origin'. The research will be based on a selected corpus of four translated fanfiction novels of the series Twilight / Twilight by Stephenie Meyer in Brazil, a literature review, interviews with Brazilian translators and sample analysis. Attention will be given to specific aspects related to the translation of fanfiction, such as publication pace, the use of instant translation programs in addition to other translation tools and, finally, the relationship between the reader/writer (s) of the original fanfiction and its translation(s) .
