The history of the Klosteranger can be traced back to the 18th century. It is the heart of MURI-GRIES, a single site with an excellent terroir in the middle of Gries protected by the old monastery wall. This is where the grapes grow for our very best Lagrein, the Weingarten Klosteranger.

Die Weinberge des klösterlichen Weingutes liegen in und um Bozen sowie auf dem sonnenverwöhnten Hochplateau der Gemeinde Eppan. Zu den Top-Lagen von MURI-GRIES zählen die beiden Weinberge im historischen Viertel Gries-Moritzing (Bozen) und der Weingarten Klosteranger, der unmittelbar an das Kloster angrenzt. Hier ist der Lagrein seit eh und je heimisch und gedeiht bei langanhaltender gefälliger Wärme und auf gutem Quarzporphyrgrund. The monastery vineyards are all located within a radius of a few kilometres of the winery in and around Bolzano and the sun-blessed plateau of Eppan. The best sites at MURI-GRIES include the two vineyards located in the historical quarter of Gries-Moritzing (Bolzano) and the Klosteranger vineyard immediately adjoining the monastery. Lagrein has long been at home here and flourishes in the lingering gentle warmth of the quartz porphyry soils. As Lagrein is especially dear to our hearts and we are determined to respect its origins, we have developed the single-site principle guaranteeing targeted development of these special sites and the production of each vintage using grapes from one and the same site – from the vine to the glass.Details
