The GISDA LGBT+ Youth Club is an opportunity for young people aged between 15 and 21 to have fun, meet friends and more importantly be themselves. We meet every other Monday night 6-8pm at café Te a Cofi on the Maes in Caernarfon and have full use of the café with an XBox, wi-fi and computer. The aim of the Youth Club is to be an inclusive environment where young people can take part in games, workshops or just too simply catch up with friends.

Siân Gwenllian is Gwynedd Small Business Champion. She has been chosen as the Plaid Cymru candidate for the Arfon constituency for the Welsh Election 2016. She has held top positions in Gwynedd Council including Deputy Leader, Cabinet Member for Education, Lead Member for Children and Young People and Finance Portfolio Leader. Siân joined the Council, representing the Felinheli ward (where she was brought up) in 2008. She has been a community councillor and school governor for over 20 years and is actively involved in several local initiatives.

Ron was one of the founder members of GISDA in 1985 and the only member of the original group still left on the Board. Concern for homelessness among young people in Caernarfon and the area was the reason for forming GISDA . Ron is married to Rhian and they have three children and six grandchildren!.

Sometimes we all have problems that are worrying. Think of a confusing jigsaw when all the pieces are difficult to fit together. Talking about a problem in counselling is like sorting out all the pieces so we can begin to build a picture that makes more sense to us. Sometimes it’s difficult to talk to parents or friends about things that are making us anxious. A counsellor is someone you can talk to in a different way, someone who will listen to you carefully, who will not judge you or tell you what to do. Counselling is about helping you to work things out for yourself, making decisions and choices and helping you to look at things differently. It can help you to feel better about yourself.

Llwyddodd 8 o ddefnyddiwyd gwasanaeth i gael grant gan Ymddiriedolaeth y Tywysog a grant gan GwirVol i brynu offer a chreu ymgyrch farchnata i gychwyn y fenter newydd. The group of 8 young people was successful in getting a grant from the Prince’s trust and Gwirvol to buy the equipment and create marketing campaigns to start a new business. Since this the enterprise has grown and last year they were successful in a funding application to Cyfenter to employ two members of staff to run the enterprise and to buy a food van and popcorn machine. The aim is to develop the social enterprise so that there is a different type of rural entertainment.

The aim of the enterprise is to give work experience to our service users and arm them not only with the necessary skills for cleaning work, but transferable skills that will be suitable for any field of work they wish to enter in the future e.g. punctuality and Customer care, and there are Agored Cymru accreditations on offer. As it is a new company they are actively searching for new outside contracts that will enable us to offer more work experience for young people. We would like to thank Palas Print for being our first customers.

Tudor is the Chair of Gwynedd Council. He is also a member of Caernarfon Town Council where he has been the Mayor on two occasions. He has served both Councils for over 20 years and is the Vice- Chair with Noddfa, Chair with Tŷ Pobl Peblig and is on several committees including the Fire Service. Before retirement he was self-employed in his own local building business and has been married for over 40 years. Tudor has two sons, three grandsons and a granddaughter. His interests are socialising and playing golf although these days he is too busy to play! He also enjoys gardening. Tudor joined GISDA’s Board as Gwynedd Council’s representative and had an interest in GISDA’s services due to his connections with the housing and care committees. He was also aware of GISDA’s good work with young people.
