Najvažniji cilj projekta ZagEE je provođenje mjera energetske učinkovitosti i obnovljivih izvora energije u zgradama u vlasništvu Grada Zagreba. Projekt ZagEE označit će početak konkretnih aktivnosti za Grad Zagreb u vidu ispunjavanja obveza preuzetih inicijativom Sporazum gradonačelnika i razvojem Akcijskog plana energetski održivog razvitka (SEAP).

The most important goal of the ZagEE project is the implementation of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources in the buildings owned by the City of Zagreb. The project ZagEE shall mark the beginning of specific activities of the City of Zagreb in the aim of fulfilling the obligations undertaken as part of the Covenant of Mayors initiative and the development of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP). The ambitious plan of renovating 87 public buildings shall result in high energy savings (an average of 49%) as well as better working conditions for their users. The expected 72% savings in public lighting also presents an ambitious goal.

Grad Zagreb je vodeći grad u Hrvatskoj s obzirom na prepoznavanje važnosti razvoja energetske održivosti. Odlukom Gradske skupštine Grada Zagreba 30. listopada 2008. Grad Zagreb je, kao jedan od prvih europskih glavnih gradova, prihvatio Sporazum gradonačelnika i izrazio potporu velikoj inicijativi povezivanja gradonačelnika energetski osviještenih europskih gradova u trajnu mrežu s ciljem razmjene iskustava u primjeni djelotvornih mjera za poboljšanje energetske učinkovitosti urbanih sredina.

The partners on the project include the City of Zagreb (as project leader) and the North-west Croatia Regional Energy Agency (REGEA). The suggested consortium implies that key experts of the public body (City of Zagreb) and the energy agency (REGEA) work on the development and implementation of the project. The consortium relies on strong experience in leading European projects, as both partners have been successful in participating in and coordinating European projects, which is a guarantee of efficient implementation of project activities.

srpnja 2014. između Grada Zagreba i Fonda za zaštitu okoliša i energetsku učinkovitost, utvrđena je energetska obnova 87 zgrada i 3130 objekata javne rasvjete u vlasništvu Grada Zagreba. FZOEU sudjeluje u sufinanciranju troškova projekta ZagEE u iznosu od 40% troškova za energetsku obnovu, odnosno u iznosu do 89.200.000,00 kuna.

The international conference „Together for a green, energy efficient Europe“ which presented the program for the 4. Zagreb energy week was held on May 15, 2013 in the Old City Hall. The conference presented guidelines, directives and legal framework necessary for the energy sustainable development of the European Union and the Republic of Croatia, funds and methodologies of the European Union, the possibilities of financing energy efficiency projects and renewable energy sources in the Republic of Croatia as well as examples of implementation measures for reaching European 20-20-20 objectives.

The City of Zagreb is the leading city in Croatia in terms of recognizing the importance of sustainable energy development. By the decision of the Zagreb City Assembly on October 30th, 2008, the City of Zagreb became one of the first European capitals to adopt the Covenant of Mayors and state its support to the great initiative of joining the mayors of European cities committed to energy efficiency in a permanent network with the aim of exchanging experiences in the implementation of effective measures for the improvement of efficiency in urban areas.
