Bu yılki teması 'Zamansız' olarak belirlenen yarışmaya 120 tasarımcı 360 gelinlik tasarımıyla başvurdu. Yarışmada, 15 finalist arasında Ayşenur Çavdar, Filiz Özbengi Uslu, Merve Gökesmer’in de yer aldığı 5 tasarımcı İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi’ni temsil etti.

120 fashion designers applied with 360 bridal designs to this year’s contest titled 'Zamansız (Timeless)'. 5 fashion designers, including Ayşenur Çavdar, Filiz Özbengi Uslu, Merve Gökesmer, from Izmir University of Economics among 15 finalists, represented the University at the contest.

Tasarım yaparken güncel moda trendlerine bağlı kalmadığını dile getiren Bülbül, “ Spiritüel bir hikaye ve içsel bir yolculukla geliştirdiğim kavramsal tasarımlarımla bedenleri değil ruhları giydirmeyi istiyorum. Bu yüzden güncel moda trendlerine uygun olmayı değil zamansızlığı ve farklılığı önemsiyorum.” diye konuştu.

Fashion Designers Association member Simay Bülbül told about her success in Derisigner Leather Design Competition, which she wins since 2003, and she told the steps towards branding. The designer that can create many different textures and surfaces encouraged the young fashion designers to use leather with the sample clothes and leathers she brought. Bülbül stated that she was using sheep leather in different colors and textures and showed how leather integrated with different materials like chiffon, cotton, knitting in her designs. Bülbül said that she was not following the current fashion trends in her designs and said, "I love to clothe not the bodies but the spirits with conceptual designs I develop with a spiritual story and internal journey. That is why I do not care about the fashion trends but timelessness and differences.”
