The OEKO-TEX® Association carries out control tests of certified products every year for at least 25% of all certificates issued. For this purpose articles with the OEKO-TEX® label that are available in retail outlets and sample materials from the companies are tested. In addition, independent auditors also carry out random checks within the scope of unannounced company visits to companies with the OEKO-TEX® certificate.

Yes, companies can accept old labels or certificates that are in circulation as long as the underlying certification is valid. Old labels and certificates with the old layout will disappear from the market in time. In the case of STANDARD 100 certificates, these should disappear at least one year after the official switch to the new templates (since, as of now, OEKO-TEX® will only issue certificates with the refreshed layout).

The OEKO-TEX® member institutes carry out control tests for textile products after certification to ensure continued compliance with the required criteria. For these tests, labelled products are purchased from retail shops or unannounced samples are taken from the production facilities and tested in the laboratory. Every year, the product control tests amount to at least 20% of all certificates issued.
