Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1888-1964) became world famous for one house – the Rietveld-Schröder House – and one chair – the red-blue ‘Rietveld’ Chair. Yet apart from this, more than 100 houses were built to his designs, and he designed more than 350 pieces of furniture. That is why this summer the central library and the library of Architecture pay a tribute to this designer, who, by the way, had an honorary doctorate at the “Technische Hogeschool te Delft”. A travelling exhibition ‘100x Rietveld’ is on display showing scale models made with the original constructions. In addition, a lot of material from the TU Delft Library and Architecture collections is exhibited, including original Rietveld chairs.
