The fundamental direction of information activities was very clearly reflected in the report of IFAS's Adviser responsible for this section of the ASBP-3, Mr. K. Ballyev. The tasks which are vital from the perspective of participants involved into transboundary cooperation and have to be presented to the donors were highlighted in that report of EC IFAS. The representative of the French International Office for Water, Mr. Paul Haener informed the participants about the project of the French Development Agency aiming to create a metadatabase of EECCA's information systems. This project will harmonize different databases with each other, create a catalog of data and arrange information systems.

Special meeting "Sustainable Global Food Security" was held under leadership of the Director of "Agrofood- Canada" Mr. R. Wetflower with participation of three ICWC members. On this meeting the reports of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, InterAmerican Bank, African Bank and statement of Prof. V.A. Dukhovny were heard. The participants of meeting have supported necessity of governmental support maintenance for agriculture, especially nowadays - in conditions of fall in prices for agricultural products; opportunity of donors’ participation in the real help to less developed countries - in development of own food provision more, than refusal from the help in delivery and supply by food from outside. Dr. M. Bos (the Netherlands) has offered to initiate work on verification, to what extent "Vision 21", prepared by CAR countries for the II Forum in Hague, was reflected in activity of the countries of region.

Right after the USSR’s collapse, the Ministers of Water Resources of five Central Asian states signed an Agreement between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on Cooperation in Joint Management of Interstate Water Resources Use and Protection that established an Interstate Commission for Water Coordination in the Aral Sea basin (ICWC) on 18 February 1992 with a view to joint water resources use management in the basin. The Commission was founded on the basis of BWO ‘Amudarya’ and BWO ‘Syrdarya’ organized in 1987 and the Scientific-Information Center separated from the SANIIRI Institute. This Agreement met confirmation in formation of an International Fund for the Aral Sea Saving that was established by the Decision of the Heads of Central Asian States not in 2003 but in 1993 consisting of two commissions, ICWC and Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development (ICSD), and Executive Committee (EC) IFAS.
