During the meeting, they praised the excellent relations between the two NATO member states and assessed Croatia's membership to the EU as a model of inspiration for the entire region. This membership gives a better chance to the region on the European agenda. Croatia remains an important regional actor, with a specific role for the region, as a member of the EU. Mr. Bushati appreciated Croatia’s support on the Kosovo’s independence and its path towards integration processes. He also expressed his gratitude for the support of Croatia to Albania in European integration process. The parties were convinced that the excellent bilateral relations could be further intensified in the political and economic field.

Community Foundation Slagalica organized on Thursday, May 18th Regional Conference titled Trust in Local Philanthropy, at the Osijek Hotel. The conference was attended by fifty representatives of the civil and the business sector, as well as academic and public institutions from Osijek, Zagreb, Kutina, Klis, Beli Manastir, Vinkovci, Vukovar and Brodski Stupnik. Special guests were from Bosnia and Herzegovina Jasna Jašarević, Executive Manager of Tuzla Community Foundation, and from Serbia Biljana Dakić Đorđević, Executive Manager and Tanja Bjelanović, Development Director of Trag Foundation from Belgrade, along with Danko Nikolić, Executive Manager of Zaječar Initiative. The participants of this conference could get acquainted with examples of good practice from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, including new tools and models for promoting and encouraging philanthropy. Branka Kaselj, Slagalica Foundation Manager and Julijana Mladenovska-Tešija, independent researcher presented the results of Trust in Local Philanthropy research project, which shows the fact that citizens, despite their own limited capacities, are willing to selflessly help others and engage in philanthropic initiatives.
