Kur ju të gjithë thoshit se nuk kalon, unë ju thosha se “o do bëhet, o do bëhet”.
Prime Minister Rama: It remains to be seen. It is not absolutely sure that it can be delayed, but it remains to be seen. You know, I don’t talk about what comes tomorrow. We are here today to underline our obligation of today. Be assured that tomorrow we will have all the required answers and ideas to continue further on a path that was determined by the majority of the Albanians, both socialists and democrats, who may be separated with regard to many things, but not with regard to the necessity to get rid of corrupt and incriminated prosecutors and judges, in order to be treated as equals.

Our starting point is that all people are equal before the law and have the right to equal protection by the law without any discrimination. In this sense, the law should prohibit any discrimination and guarantee equal and effective protection against discrimination on whatever grounds to all people. The general objective at national level is to introduce changes in the legislation that will enable full implementation of the international standards in this area. Strategic goal of the MHC is the further institutional strengthening of the State, and the creation of practical preconditions for identification of discrimination and for restricting and sanctioning the cases of discrimination.

Mr. Haxhinasto : Certainly, the 21 January events have put a big question mark on Albania’s integration speed, since each political event can stop the European process. But most importantly, the 21st January has penalized politics again, producing an even greater conflict and division between the major political forces in the majority and in the opposition; accordingly, I think that this is not conducive for the establishment of the necessary conditions of addressing those12 priorities, whose compliance would make Albania a EU candidate country. The fulfillment of these 12 benchmarks demands the existence of a normal political domestic situation at home, which would mean: politics should be made within institutions and the institutions should do their own constitutional homework. And I think that these are the two major indispensable principles or standards we have to meet – institutions should do their own constitutional work and the Constitution should be observed. If the political debate and activity are conducted in this way - i.e. within institutions, bearing also in mind the institutional responsibilities of the opposition in this process, I think that we shall have a new dynamics, as well as a better and acceptable pace of the country’s integration process. The elections on 8 May represent a very good momentum for the integration process. It is indispensible for the opposition to be engaged in this legal process, to exercise its own rights and bear its political responsibilities, not only towards its citizens, but also towards the constitutional responsibilities, in view of being on board of the administration of the election process as well. True, politics does not serve itself alone; it serves the citizens and the citizens expect from the upcoming polls the election of their best representatives -i.e. those representatives that serve them with the highest quality in the country’s communes and municipalities.
