إنه المكان الذي دُفن فيه نبي الله موسى عليه السلام وأكثر الأماكن المقدسة تبجيلًا في الأردن . ومن قمة هذا الجبل، يمكن للمرء أن يقف في نفس المكان الذي وقف فيه موسى عليه السلام لكي يرى مشهدًا بانوراميًا مذهلًا يضم وادي نهر الأردن ، والبحر الميت ، وأريحا ، والقدس ، وهي المنطقة المعروفة باسم الأرض المقدسة . ولقد شُيدت أول كنيسة على جبل نيبو في أواخر القرن الرابع الميلادي للإشارة إلى موضع وفاة نبي الله موسى عليه السلام . ولا تزال الكنيسة مقصدًا للحجاج من مسيحيي العالم .

يعتبر الحرم الإبراهيمي في الخليل أقدم بناء مقدس في العالم ما زال مستخدما حتى اليوم ودون انقطاع تقريباً. وجاءت قدسيته، على ما يعتقد، لضمه رفات نبي الله إبراهيم وزوجته سارة، وابنيهما إسحاق ويعقوب وزوجتيهما ليقا ورفقا. وأغلب الظن أن هذا المكان المقدس قد ساهم بشكل كبير في التواصل الحضاري لمدينة الخليل، وجعلها مدينة ذات شهرة عالمية، حتى سميت أماكن أخرى في العالم، مثل بريطانيا والولايات المتحدة ... الخ، باسمها (Hebron).

وليس بينه وبين سيدنا محمد -صلى الله عليه وسلم- نبي، وقد بَشَّر بالنبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم؛ قال تعالى: { وَإِذْ قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ إِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَمُبَشِّرًا بِرَسُولٍ يَأْتِي مِنْ بَعْدِي اسْمُهُ أَحْمَدُ فَلَمَّا جَاءهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ قَالُوا هَذَا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ}[سورة الصف، الآية (6)]. وقد وردت البشارةُ بسيدنا محمد -صلى الله عليه وسلم- في إنجيل (برنابه) - الإصحاح 97 .

There is no other prophet between him and Muhammad (peace be upon him). He gave glad tidings about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Allah, the Almighty says: “Jesus, the son of Mary, said: "O Children of Israel! I am the apostle of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." But when he came to them with Clear Signs, they said, "this is evident sorcery!" [Surat As-Saff: 6]. The glad tidings of Muhammad (peace be upon him) was mentioned in the Gospel of Barnabas – chapter 97.
