His obsession for cypress trees, impossible cypress trees. This is an obsession that gave rise to many works by the Master, and more specifically to a corporeal work: the cypress tree growing out of a boat, near the entrance to his house in Portlligat. An impossible cypress tree, inherently surrealist, like the one with a white horse or a strange trumpet coming out of it, or the one from which a fountain emerges, or the one that emerges from a grand piano, and so forth, all of them imagined and painted by Salvador.

The whole restoration project goal is that Parc Del Garraf absorbs the dump by using the local forest tissue and supporting the establishment of primary ecosystems and its development and succession which thought the time will turn to adapted situations to the site environment. The plantation process is being done through strong local species with a few pouring demand and already adapted to the place environment. The vegetal structure planned with different local sorts of shrubs (such as bardissa, brolla or mediterranian màquia) and trees organizes the plantation project

However, in reference to the State, the most important thing is to refine our attitude as believing citizens. In the past, the state demanded nothing more than taxes and obedience to laws, but in our present democratic states the most important thing is participation, dialogue, the contribution to the formation of public opinion from which political becomes law. Democracy implies peaceful dialogue, in which no one can be decalified by their beliefs or provenance, dialogue in which the best argument should prevail, no matter where it comes from. In this sense democracy requires us to participate, loyal, consistent and constant.

The work of Asier Mendizabal (Ordizia, Guipúzcoa, 1973) « […] springs from a tradition in art driven by the strategy of cinematic montage – as an eminently modern tool for representation/narration – and related to that of the Constructivist sculpture that plunges its roots in the abstract utopia of the first few decades of the twentieth century», writes Bartomeu Marí in the catalogue for the exhibition on this Basque artist. These modern roots are placed in dialectical confrontation with an enormous range of forms of popular culture. The interrelations between form, discourse and ideology, the way they interact with the representation communal, and the potential of abstraction in terms of political effectiveness form the spinal cord that runs through Mendizabal's artistic practice. This exhibition brought together a substantial part of the work produced by the artist between 1997 and 2007 for the first time, successfully illustrating his multidisciplinary approach to the creative process. Film, video, music, photography, installations, sculpture and posters offered an alternative reading of the social, political and cultural context of the Basque Country.

The Kalbach-Riedberg district is an extensive agricultural zone to the north of Frankfurt from which one can see the silhouettes of the centre-city skyscrapers. Although the area was scantly populated until recently, the new neighbourhood of Am Riedberg, is now being constructed here, a garden city that is to house almost fifteen thousand new residents. In the land where the new development is located is the old Saint Boniface fountain. According to the legend, in the year 754, the procession that was bringing the remains of Saint Boniface to the Fulda cathedral – said to be their resting place to this day – stopped at this place to spend the night and the following morning a new watercourse miraculously sprang from the site where his body had lain. Over time, the legendary fountain, in its low hollow of a gentle crease in the land and protected by a group of tall trees, became a haven for meditation. Around the hollow from which the water springs there was a metal rail and stone benches that were progressively deteriorating. Moreover, the first houses of the Am Riedberg neighbourhood, built only a few metres from the fountain, placed its peaceful setting in jeopardy.

One question that supporters and detractors alike have asked of the grassroots movement is, exactly what do the protesters want? Yes, income equality, corporate greed and political gridlock are the most obvious issues that it/they/us want addressed. As of this point, there has not been an articulation of demands, but rather both a “declaration of the occupation of New York City” and a living document, updated regularly, outlining the “principles of solidarity” of #OWS – among them, advocating for transparency, exercising personal and collective responsibility, and embracing open-source tools. Demands or not, there seems to be an ethos of total fedupness that is permeating the movement. The slogan “We are the 99 percent,” ostensibly oppressed by the 1 percent who disproportionally control a significant portion of the wealth, is the bedrock from which all springs. This is what gives it its potency and makes it dangerous. What this challenges the notion of a system, undergirded by a “dream,” that anyone in America can rise like a Phoenix by dint of education and hard work to a comfortable level of prosperity. Tell that to the millions who are out of work and have very little prospects of ever finding a job again. Tell that to the millions who have lost their home and have joined the swelling ranks of the homeless. In fact, more than 1,000 U.S. residents have shared their personal stories on a blog archiving the trials of the 99 percent.
