(Before I begin this article I would like to emphatically state that I remain neutral in what concerns the alleged apparitions of Medjugorge. In seeking to obey the Church, while at the same time awaiting the definitive judgment by the Vatican, I do recognise and give assent to the local Bishops opposition to the apparitions, and I also give assent to the 1991 "Zadar" decision from the Commission formed by the Yugoslavian Bishops conference which concluded "non constat de supernaturalitate" [the supernaturality is not proven].

Nuorisotyöttömyys laski Vantaalla viime vuonna 19 prosenttia, ja suunta on edelleen laskeva. Tämä on pitkälti Vantaan kaupungin vuonna 2010 käynnistämän Petra-hankkeen ansiota. Hankkeessa keskitytään tarjoamaan parempaa tukea alle 25-vuotiaille työnhakijoille, jotka saavat henkilökohtaista ja aktivoivaa ohjausta 2-3 viikon välein. ”Jo alkuvaiheessa puututaan nuoren työttömyyteen ja aktivoidaan häntä valmennuksiin, työpajoille, työharjoitteluun, opintoihin tai työmarkkinoille,” Vantaan työllisyyspalveluiden johtaja Anu Tirkkonen kertoo. Tirkkosen mukaan aiemmin toteutetuissa, heikommin menestyneissä toimenpiteissä toimijoilla ei ollut käytössä samankaltaisia resursseja kuin ESR:n osarahoittamassa Petra-hankkeessa. Näin ollen kyseisillä toimenpiteillä ei ole ollut merkittävää vaikutusta nuorisotyöttömyyteen.
