The Codex Committee on Food Labelling (CCFL) is the Codex subsidiary body responsible for setting standards and guidelines on labelling that is applicable to all foods and the Codex General Standard for Labelling of Prepackaged Foods (CXS 1-1985) is the key Codex instrument for delivering information about food to the consumer. The Codex standard is used by countries as guidance for harmonization and has also been used as the basis for new food labelling policies.

وواصل مجلس الأمن مع مرور الزمن تحسين أساليب عمله وتكييفها مع تغير الحقائق داخل المجلس نفسه وفي السياق الدولي العام. ولمواكبة هذه الحقائق المتغيرة، اتخذ أعضاء المجلس بين الحين والآخر قرارات لتكملة النظام الداخلي المؤقت لمجلس الأمن، عن طريق اعتماد ونشر أساليب عمل جديدة محددة. وفي معظم الأحيان، كان مجلس الأمن يقوم بذلك عن طريق اعتماد ”مذكرات من رئيس مجلس الأمن“ تدون كتابيا الممارسات والتدابير التي اتفق عليها أعضاء المجلس للاسترشاد بها في عمل المجلس. وساعدت هذه المذكرات في توضيح أساليب العمل لكل من أعضاء المجلس وأعضاء الأمم المتحدة بصفة أعم. وكان القصد من وضع أساليب العمل تلك هو تعزيز كفاءة عمل مجلس الأمن وجعل أنشطته أكثر شفافية، وتحسين التفاعل والحوار مع الدول غير الأعضاء في المجلس. كذلك اعتُبر إدخال التحسينات على أساليب العمل من القضايا المهمة بالنسبة لإصلاح مجلس الأمن.
