وعلى حين أنه يمكن تفهم مثل هذه الاعتبارات فربما كان من الأفضل توفير التجنيد التطوعي والتعليم العسكري عبر وسائل بديلة, عن طريق مثلاً إتاحة إمكانية المستقبل الوظيفي والتعليم العسكري عبر مؤسسات لا تعد جزءاً من القوات المسلحة للدولة. كما أن صياغة الحكم تسمح بإمكانية التحايل على الحد الأدنى لسن التجنيد وكذا اعتبار هؤلاء التلاميذ أعضاء بالقوات المسلحة ومن ثم أهداف عسكرية. ومما لا شك فيه أن هذا الانحراف عن " هدف الثامنة عشرة الصريح " الذي سعت نحوه وفود عديدة يضعف بشدة آفاق الحيلولة دون اشتراك الأطفال في النزاعات المسلحة في المستقبل.

بالرغم من أنه كثيرًا ما يُنظر للمترجمين في الأساس على أنهم اختصاصيون في اللغات، إلا أن معرفتهم ومهاراتهم تمتد إلى ما هو أبعد من كفاءتهم اللغوية. وبوصفهم كائنات اجتماعية، يشارك المترجمون في نشاطٍ اجتماعيٍ بامتياز تحكمه الاحتياجات التواصلية لأناسٍ حقيقيين ضمن سياقٍ اجتماعيٍ حقيقيٍ. ومن ثمّ تهدف هذه الورقة البحثية إلى تقديم إطارٍ للتفكير المتأمل في البعد الاجتماعي للمترجم، ودمج الجانب الاجتماعي لعملية الترجمة في دورات تدريب المترجمين. بادئ ذي بدء، سوف نناقش بإيجاز بعض المسائل المتعلقة بمفهوم "البعد الاجتماعي للمترجم"، مثل المترجمين كأعضاءٍ في مجتمع الترجمة والشبكات الاجتماعية الأخرى، والمترجمين بوصفهم "صائغين نشطين لملامح النص المصدر"، والمترجمين كمشاركين في الحياة السياسية والثقافية والفكرية لمجتمعاتهم. وعلاوة على ذلك، سيتم تحليل الآثار المترتبة على الدور الاجتماعي للمترجم في مجال التنظير للترجمة وتدريسها. ولهذا الغرض، سوف نشير إلى الكفاءات الاحترافية على النحو المحدد في برنامج الماجستير الأوروبي في الترجمة الذي يمثل نيل اعتماده شهادة جودة لبرامج تدريب المترجمين على مستوى درجة الماجستير، إذ تُمنح هذه الشهادة للبرامج التي تلبي معايير الجودة المقبولة بشكل عام في مجال تدريب المترجمين، وغايتنا من ذلك تقصي ما إذا كان اكتساب الكفاءة الاجتماعية يشكل إحدى الأهداف التي تتوخاها البرامج الأعضاء في شبكة برنامج الماجستير الأوروبي في الترجمة. وسوف نختتم بتقديم بعض الاقتراحات لدمج البعد الاجتماعي للمترجم في مقررات نظرية الترجمة. وسيتم بإيجاز عرض بعض المقاربات المنهجية مثل نموذج موسوب لمقرر نظرية الترجمة، والمقاربة النظرية عند كولينا، ومقترحات روبنسون، بوصفها جميعًا أدوات تعليمية من شأنها أن تساعد مترجمي المستقبل على فهم العمليات الاجتماعية بصورة أفضل والاضطلاع بدور مسؤول وأخلاقي فيها.
