كان جاسم علوان من الضباط الناصريين الذين صنعوا إنقلاب 8 آذار 1963 ضد حكومة الإنفصال. اختلف مع قادة البعث بعد عزلهم لرئيس الأركان (الناصري) زياد الحريري وتسريحهم لخيرة الضباط الناصريين من الجيش في صيف عام 1963. حاول الإستلاء على الحكم في 18 تموز 1963 ألا أن الإنقلاب لم ينجح وأدى الى مقتل العديد من المواطنيين (مدنيين وعسكر) تحديداً في ساحة الأمويين حيث دارت المعارك. تم إعدام العديد من أعوانه بأمر من مجلس قيادة الثورة ولكن علوان نفسه هرب الى مصر بمساعدة الرئيس جمال عبد الناصر الذي هاجم البعث السوري واصفاً اياه بالحزب "الفاشي". بقي جاسم علوان ضيفاً على الحكومة المصرية حتى عام 2005 عندما عاد الى سوريا بواسطة صديقه وزير الدفاع يومها مصطفى طلاس.

Greater numbers of patients now receive thrombolysis - a clot-busting medication - and more patients undergo an advanced mechanical process to extract blood clots. وقد تحسَّنت الظروف الاقتصادية والمالية تحسُّنا طفيفا في أوائل عام 2013، بعد عام من التحديات في 2012. فمع انخفاض إمدادات الغاز القادمة من مصر في عام 2012 إلى 16 في المائة من الكميات المتعاقد عليها، اضطر الأردن إلى الاعتماد على واردات الوقود باهظة التكلفة في توليد احتياجات البلاد من الكهرباء. وأفضى هذا إلى تدهور سريع في أوضاع ميزان المدفوعات والميزانية في الأردن في النصف الأول من عام 2012. ونتيجة لذلك، تم التوصل إلى اتفاق استعداد ائتماني مع صندوق النقد الدولي في أغسطس/آب 2012 (800 في المائة من حصته في الصندوق أو نحو ملياري دولار). وبالنسبة لعام 2012، سجَّل عجز ميزان المعاملات الجارية 18 في المائة من إجمالي الناتج المحلي (مرتفعا 6 نقاط مئوية من هذا الإجمالي عن مستواه في 2011)، وبلغ العجز العام للميزانية العامة 8.5 في المائة من إجمالي الناتج المحلي (مرتفعا نحو نقطتين مئويتين عما كان عليه في 2011). وساعد إلغاء الدعم عن أسعار كل المنتجات البترولية ماعدا غاز البترول المسال، ومضاعفة واردات الغاز من مصر (صعودا من مستوى متدن) منذ نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني 2012 على خفض الضغوط الحادة على صعيد الاقتصاد الكلي. واسهم تطبيق نظام تحويلات التعويضات النقدية على نطاق واسع على الأرجح في تحسين الشكل التصاعدي للإنفاق العام.
