بعد انضمامها لعضوية مجلس إدارة برنامج المقارنات الدولية ،  وعضوية فريق الخبراء الدوليين لتطوير الحسابات الفرعية للسياحة 2017 ، انضمت المملكة العربية السعودية ممثلةً في الهيئة العامة للإحصاء لعضوية مجموعة العمل العالمية للبيانات الضخمة للإحصاءات الرسمية  التابعة للأمم المتحدة ، والتي تضم في عضويتها 22 دولة و9 هيئات عالمية، ويأتي اختيار المملكة العربية السعودية لعضوية هذه المجموعة  ليعكس الدور الإيجابي للهيئة العامة للإحصاء في البرامج الإحصائية المختلفة التي تنظمها الأمم المتحدة على كافة المستويات وللتقدم الذي أحرزته المملكة في مجال البيانات الضخمة، ويمثل الهيئة العامة للإحصاء في هذه المجموعة  ثلاث قيادات إحصائية وتقنية ضمن خبراء الأمم المتحدة للبيانات الضخمة هم ؛ د. محمد الأحمد نائب رئيس الهيئة لقطاع الابتكار الإحصائي وخدمة العملاء، و أ. خالد الدلقان وكيل الهيئة لتقنية المعلومات ، و د. أسيل المنصور مدير عام إدارة الابتكار الإحصائي في الهيئة .
