The farm El Rellonge was built in the late nineteenth century and it is located in one of the main arteries of the town, Carrer (street) Cervantes number 19. The architect Juan Vidal Ramos made the staircase facing the entrance door. Currently, this public building is the Youth Centre of Sant Joan d’Alacant. Its gardens are a regular place for citizen’s gatherings, thanks to the many events scheduled throughout the year.

Performing surgical operations without leaving scars has ceased to be a chimera and has become a reality. This is demonstrated by the recent surgical advances made using NOTES (Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopy Surgery), an innovative surgical approach that allows surgical access using the body’s natural orifices. The results are all advantageous for the patient: lack of scars, shorter hospital stay and faster recovery. Currently, this type of minimally-invasive surgery is still in the research and development stage. Surgery through the mouth and vagina has been successfully used, but the transanal route (through the anus) is less utilized.

Operar sense deixar cicatrius ha passat de ser una quimera a convertir-se en una realitat. Així ho demostren les recents fites aconseguides en cirurgia gràcies al NOTES (Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopy Surgery), un innovador abordatge quirúrgic que permet operar a partir d’orificis naturals del cos. El resultat són tot avantatges per al pacient: absència de cicatrius, menor estada a l’hospital i una millor recuperació. En l’actualitat, aquest tipus de cirurgia mínimament invasiva està en ple procés de recerca i desenvolupament. La boca i la vagina han estat les vies més utilitzades fins al moment, però, la via transrectal (a través de l’anus) ha estat la menys explorada.

This paradigmatic event highlights the importance the IQS has always given to the improvement of teaching and learning. Currently, this effort takes place in the reflections and developments carried on by a number of professors and researchers of this institution that pursue various research paths with a common concern: improving teaching and learning. Actualment, aquest esforç es concreta en les reflexions i els desenvolupaments d'un bon grapat de professors i investigadors del centre a l'entorn de diferents línies d'investigació amb un neguit comú: millorar l'ensenyament i l'aprenentatge. En concret les nostres recerques abasten entre d'altres els següents temes: disseny, desenvolupament i ús de simulacions i altres recursos informàtics per a l'enseyament presencial, semipresencial i no presencial a nivell universitari; didàctiques específiques en química, física, matemàtiques i estadística; control i garantia de la qualitat a l'educació universitària; adquisició i avaluació de competències...
