La celebració de la fira va provocar importants conflictes entre la ciutat d’Alacant i la llavors universitat de Sant Joan i Benimagrell entorn de la jurisdicció dels termes de cada localitat. En el cas de Santa Faç sempre hi va haver problemes amb la delimitació territorial, i en nombroses ocasions es van produir incidents, com el 1772, quan les autoritats d’Alacant van demandar l’alcalde i agutzil de Sant Joan per entrar portant les vares jurisdiccionals en la fira de la Santa Faç per a reclamar la jurisdicció fins a la paret del monestir, tal com havia establit una divisió prèvia. El plet es va saldar a favor de Sant Joan, ja que es va sancionar la demarcació fins a la paret del temple el 1780.
