I have been working with the DPCS group of the IN3, contributing to papers about the use of simulations to solve problems related to structural reliability (how long a structure will function at a particular level, given persistent degrading forces and sometimes considering repairs) and scheduling (finding the most time-efficient order for a set of jobs that need to be done, for example, by a set of machines). I have also contributed to the DPCS's Knowledge Community proposal for doing Distributed and Collaborative e-Research, which was recently approved by the IN3.

Han estat dos mesos fantàstics! Després d'haver fet alguns cursos en línia, m'entusiasmava la idea de treballar en aquesta universitat virtual d'avantguarda. De bon començament em va impressionar el tracte proper i el suport de tothom a la UOC. L'esperit de col·laboració m'ha fet sentir que treballo amb el grup DPCS més que no pas per a aquest grup. També he gaudit plenament de treballar i viure a Barcelona. Aquest ha estat el meu primer viatge a Europa i, alhora, una gran oportunitat per a entendre millor la cultura espanyola, a més de veure els Estats Units des d'una altra perspectiva.
