An Industry 4.0-themed symposium held by the German government concluded that conventional telecom-grade broadband networks cannot support smart factories and smart production (the core aim of the Fourth Industrial Revolution).

开启Gigaband时代历史意义重大，不仅仅对运营商宽带业务发展有重大利好，更为重要的是Gigaband必将加速和驱动人类文明进步、必将成为《中国制造2025》、《工业4.0》等国家级战略更为坚实的基础。但如何才能更好的拥抱Gigaband时代的到来，我们也提出三点建议。首先，我们建议全球和各区域电信管制机构要改变宽带时期的产业政策制定的原则和基调，要从以前鼓励竞争为主调整到构建投资友好的、鼓励发展的产业政策环境。超宽带在发展初期，是需要“要致富、先修路”的战略指引，是一个“感性”投资行为；其次是逐步演进的网络升级策略，Gigaband产业发展需要对传统电信网络进行较大幅度的升级和优化，但我们主张跟随业务和体验需求发展，充分利旧现网资源，通过一些颠覆式创新，逐步演进现有网络。最后是全行业要加大对Gigaband新业务投资的力度，任何一个新产业的繁荣和发展，一定需要得到最终用户的认可和支持，一定需要匹配用户对体验的追求。要实现这一目标，就需要我们持续不断的在Gigaband网络上进行业务创新和开发，不断吸引更多的开发者和开发机构主动挖掘出用户潜在应用需求和体验需求。只有在用户的主动需求和潜在需求的双重推动下，Gigaband才能真正走向千家万户，才能真正得到成功。
