Trogir, a city of rich cultural and historical heritage, is located on an island in-between Ciovo and the mainland, linked to the latter with a bridge. 20 km west from Split and only 5 km away from the Split airport its location is pretty convenient. The name of the city originates from a Greek word Tragos, meaning goat, and is connected with the arrival of the Greek to this parts when they saw the goats and the billy goats on the nearby hills. An ancient Greek legend about the god Kairos is also linked with the city and the relief of the deity is being kept in the St. Nicholas church (Crkva Sv. Nikole) The mentioned Kairos is a god of good luck and happy moments. He appears only once in a lifetime and in haste, giving a person the possibility of touching his bob while the one who succeeds is perceived as lucky. Trogir is also known as the „city of museums”, and since the year 1997 the city core is on the list of the UNESCO heritage. Trogir is een stad met een rijk historisch en cultureel erfgoed, het ligt op ongeveer 20 km ten westen van Split en op slechts 5 km afstand van de luchthaven van split. Het is gelegen op een eiland tussen Ciovo en het vasteland en is verbonden via een brug met het vasteland. Het is vernoemd naar het Griekse woord Tragos wat geit betekend, dit omdat toen de Grieken hier kwamen zagen ze in de heuvels heel veel geiten. Trogir staat ook bekend om zijn legende van de Griekse God Kairos, waarvan het reliëf wordt bewaard in de kerk van St. Nikola in Trogir. Kairos is de God van het Gelukkige moment dat slecht maar één keer komt in het leven en altijd haast heeft, het gaf de mensen de kans als ze hem zagen hem aan z’n toef te trekken, en de gene die daar in slaagde werden beschouwd als gelukkig. Trogir is een zogenaamde “museumstad” waarvan het oude centrum sinds 1997 op de lijst van UNESCO wereld erfgoed staat.
