J'ai passé un bac scientifique en Indonésie et je continue mes études supérieures en France, où j'étudie la chimie en Licence à l'UBO. J'effectuerai prochainement un stage à l'Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer (IUEM) dans un laboratoire de microbiologie des environnements extrêmes, sur un projet de génétique des bactéries en milieu extrême. J’entrevois un futur prometteur rempli d’espoir et de bonheur. Depuis la fin de mon programme, j’ai été accepté au Cégep pour devenir technicien en aviation. Mes relations avec ma famille n’ont jamais été aussi agréables. J’ai pu réparer les dommages que j’avais causés pendant ma consommation. J’ai maintenant un appartement et je n’ai presque plus de dettes. Je suis très content de ma vie et où elle s’en va.

« For a very long time, I have wanted to study law, in order to hopefully, in the future, become a member of a professional body of lawyers. Living near Mons made it easier for me, for both practical and financial reasons, to stay in the area rather than go directly to Brussels, which is where I am currently pursuing my postgraduate studies. UMONS is a good preparatory stage before completely relocating to the capital; the transition is easier. It allows you to go from secondary school to university without too big a shock to the system. There is also a much closer contact between students and teachers, which I find is very helpful. I now realise that in Brussels, where I am currently studying for my Master’s degree, there is no such thing as close student-teacher relationships ! »

« Depuis très longtemps, je souhaite étudier le droit afin de, je l’espère,  pouvoir, plus tard, faire le Barreau au pénal. Habitant à proximité de Mons, il était plus facile pour moi, aussi bien pour des raisons pratiques que financières, de rester dans la région plutôt que de me rendre directement à Bruxelles, là où je poursuis mon cursus universitaire. L’UMONS est une bonne préparation avant de changer complètement de ville ; la transition est plus facile. Cela permet de passer des secondaires à l’université sans trop gros choc. De plus, les professeurs sont beaucoup plus proches de nous, ce qui nous aide beaucoup. Je me rends compte, aujourd’hui, au cours de mon Master, qu’à Bruxelles il n’y a pas de telle proximité ! »

J’ai commencé à l’âge de 7 ans en Guadeloupe. C’était une période d’engouement autour de ce sport avec l’image de Laura Flessel, originaire de l’île. C’est ma mère qui nous a emmenés, mon frère et moi, découvrir l’escrime. Je faisais alors de la danse classique, j’étais une véritable petite princesse. A la base, cette découverte sportive était plus pour mon frère. Il s’avère que cela m’a plu tout de suite et j’ai pris goût rapidement à la compétition. C’est devenu une addiction. Mettre la touche, battre l’adversaire, je n’étais plus la danseuse étoile mais la guerrière.
