The RSLPTSL project has provided over 57,000 person trainings in tsunami and conflict affected areas, under a Livelihoods Program implemented by SANASA Campus Limited (SCL). This is a tremendous accomplishment and speaks to the appeal of the program topics to the target audience and the skills of the trainers in mobilizing participants.

Over the next four to six months SCL and CCA will undertake a survey of past participants, identify existing channels for marketing through the SANASA movement, look at existing group enterprise results and success factors in order to identify gaps, needs and opportunities. A strategy and action plan will be developed. SCL training materials and professional development plans will be updated.

The Alternative Livelihoods Program in northeastern Afghanistan, implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation of Canada in cooperation with the government of Afghanistan, is helping close to 30,000 households in over 200 communities to identify, implement and sustain a wide array of projects that are improving the lives of thousands of Afghan men, women and children.

NIAS [ACTED News] - ACTED Indonesia distributed 26 INS-6 fishing boats and fishing equipment to five groups comprised of 135 fishermen during a ceremony attended by local government officials from North Nias District and Afulu Sub-Districts on 10 November. The boats were constructed during ACTED’s training of marine carpenters as part of the ‘Consolidation of the livelihoods program on Nias’ funded by the Canadian Red Cross.

NIASS [ACTED News] – ACTED en Indonésie a distribué 26 bateaux INS-6 et du matériel de pêche à cinq groupes regroupant 135 pêcheurs, lors d’une cérémonie à laquelle ont assisté des représentants du gouvernement local du district de Niass Nord et des sous-districts d’Afulu le 10 novembre. Les bateaux ont été construits pendant les formations d’ACTED aux charpentiers de marine dans le cadre du projet de « Consolidation des moyens de subsistance à Niass », soutenu par la Croix Rouge Canadienne. Les bénéficiaires sont des pêcheurs avec qui ACTED a travaillé pendant deux ans pour créer des groupes d’entraide, et qui ont été formés à la gestion et aux techniques de traitement post-pêche, comme le séchage et le fumage des prises pour optimiser leur commercialisation. La répartition d’un plus grand nombre de bateaux par pêcheur aidera les groupes à accroître leur production.
