I would say that I'm very comfortable with the capability that our submarines have in operating in the Arctic in the
marginal ice zone
, that is, in the vicinity of the ice edge—which is where all the activity is occurring, including activity on the surface—in terms of surveillance, in terms of understanding what is happening in the Arctic, and being prepared to respond across the spectrum of operations whatever the contingency might be.
