Le laboratoire de télédétection de l'Institut Maurice-Lamontagne (IML) exploite deux stations de réception permettant d'acquérir ces images en temps réel. Une des stations est située à l’IML tandis que la seconde est située à Resolute Bay.

EAWAG and LTE (Environmental Remote Sensing Laboratory) researchers use the attenuation affecting the link signal in order to estimate the rainfall intensity between two antennas. Since telecommunication networks are distributed over the entire country, this approach has the potential to provide accurate rain rate estimates at high spatial and temporal resolution, in particular over urban areas.

Des chercheurs de l'Eawag et du Laboratoire de télédétection environnementale (LTE) de l'EPFL utilisent l'atténuation affectant le signal pour estimer l'intensité des pluies entre deux antennes. Du fait du déploiement des ces réseaux de télécommunication à l'échelle du pays, cette approche peut permettre d'obtenir des données précises sur la pluie à une haute résolution spatiale et temporelle, en particulier pour les zones urbaines.
