Wenn man heute Art World sagt, dann hört man gleich Sektgläser klirren, riecht ausgesuchte Häppchen, sieht schöne Frauen in Gesellschaft selbstbewusster Männer strahlen, ein paar Partyphrasen erklingen, hin und wieder ein kleiner Scherz, aber vor allem das große Geld. Der Welt der Kunst, das ist heute neben den neuen Technologien die sich am schnellsten entwickelnde Branche und Ziel vieler Investitionen. Die Lage erinnert an das Internet-Fieber in den Neunzigern, das mit einem Crash endete. Und wie damals sind Banken, Großkonzerne, kleine Firmen und individuelle Investoren mit im Spiel. Wir sprechen hier aber nur von den wirklich reichen Ländern, und nicht von denen, wo man bloß Kunstmarkt spielt und die kaum von den wahren Aufschwüngen und Krisen kaum erreicht werden. In weniger entwickelten Regionen ist Kunst noch immer eine romantische Plattform.

Ehedem war im Reiche Kasi zu Benares Brahmadatta König. Damals nahm der Bodhisattva im Leibe der ersten Gemahlin des Königs seine Wiedergeburt und am Namengebungstage gab man ihm den Namen Prinz Mahimsasa. Als dann die Zeit kam, dass er herumlaufen konnte, wurde dem König ein zweiter Sohn geboren, den man Prinz Mond nannte. Als aber die Zeit kam, dass dieser herumlaufen konnte, starb die Mutter des Bodhisattva. Darauf gab der König einer anderen die Stelle der ersten Gemahlin. Diese war dem König lieb und angenehm. Infolge ihrer Liebesvereinigung gebar sie einen Sohn und sie nannten ihn Prinz Sonne. Als der König den Knaben sah, sprach er freudigen Herzens: „Liebe, ich gewähre dir einen Wunsch für deinen Sohn.“ Die Fürstin aber schob den Wunsch auf, um ihn zu der Zeit, wo sie es wollte, zu äußern.

Es gehört zu den wichtigsten Dingen, die wir erreichen müssen, Israelis und Palästinenser, aber auch muslimische Araber und Christen zusammenzuführen. Wenn es uns gelänge, Juden, Christen und Muslime in Frieden im Heiligen Land zusammenleben zu sehen, wären die globalen Auswirkungen beachtlich. Ich freue mich also, dass Papst Franziskus dem eine besondere Bedeutung beimisst und die israelischen Führer und die religiösen Vertreter gleichzeitig eingeladen hat. Ich hoffe, dass Papst Franziskus nicht auf diese Initiative verzichtet und das nächste Mal diejenigen einlädt, die eine bedeutende politische Position innehaben oder mit den Machtstrukturen in Verbindung sind, und nicht nur jene, die eine bloß repräsentative Rolle spielen und keinerlei Einfluss auf die politischen Tatsachen haben. Denn in diesem Fall hätte diese Initiative keine politischen Folgen.
