La fontana è addossata al muro di sostegno sottostante la chiesa di San Pietro in Montorio, al cui restauro si riferisce la lapide con stemma di Urbano VIII Barberini (1623-1644) che sormonta la fontana con protome leonina. Sulla vasca di marmo, forse un abbeveratoio del tempo di Innocenzo XI Odescalchi (1676-1689), è incisa la data 1936, anno di un restauro eseguito dal Comune.

Risalente al 1616, è caratterizzato da un ampio porticato interno che circonda il cortile d'onore. Presenta diverse indicazioni epigrafiche e medaglioni di cittadini illustri. In una sala del piano terreno, c'è un affresco di Volta, dovuto a Cian Paolo Recchi, con trofei militari secenteschi e stemmi ispano-alemanni. A metà dello scalone, si può notare una lapide, in onore del comasco Andrea Perlasca che lasciò parte della sua eredità al Comune. È sede del Municipio.

In 2007, all there was left of the tower was a pile of stones, however, a road leading to the eastern peak was built in the following year because a 50-metre high steel radio-communication tower was erected there. The pile of stones from the old tower is gradually disappearing and soon, there will be nothing left but a memorial tablet on a nearby cliff.

Fortunatamente seguirono tempi migliori: nel 2001 sorse la società Krudum a spol., che seguendo l’esempio dei suoi predecessori, si diede come obiettivo quello di erigere una nuova torretta panoramica. Fino al 2007 qui c’era solo un ammasso di pietre. L’anno successivo è stata riparata la strada che conduce cima orientale ed è stata costruita proprio qui, e resa accessibile al pubblico nel 2008, una torre in acciaio per le radiocomunicazioni alta 50 metri. L’ammasso di pietre della torre crollata sta scomparendo, e si conserverà solo in una targa commemorativa nel vicino giardino roccioso.

In other instances , the finding of these already rounded or smoothed stones could be considered very useful : and so in many cases the  stele statues discovered over the centuries have been re-used as building materials for houses or religious buildings ; this is the case of the stele statues Malgrate I , Filetto XI , Aulla , that had been used to build walls in farmhouses and the Arcola statue , embedded in a breast wall ; Malgrate III used as a shelf , Falcinello walled up as a lintel over a window in the old curtain walls of Falcinello and Codiponte used as a door -post in a portal in the medieval village of the same name ; Malgrate IV and Malgrate V re-used to build a fountain and Reusa as a pinnacle in an arch ; Gigliana used as a memorial tablet in the village church .

In realtà si può  pensare che in Lunigiana non sia mai stata del tutto ignorata l'esistenza di questi antichissimi oggetti. Talvolta ad essi poteva associarsi un senso di superstizioso mistero che in qualche modo manteneva traccia di antichissime credenze popolari. In altre circostanze invece il ritrovamento di queste pietre già ben sbozzate e sagomate poteva rappresentare una buona occasione per disporre di materiale da costruzione già lavorato, così che in molti casi le statue stele rinvenute casualmente nel corso dei secoli sono state reimpiegate come materiali per costruire civili o religiosi: è il caso delle statue stele di Malgrate I, Filetto XI, Aulla, inserite nel muro di casolari e Arcola in un muro di sostegno; Malgrate III utilizzata come mensola; Falcinello murata come architrave di una finestra nella vecchia cerchia muraria di Falcinello e Codiponte come stipite di un portale nell'omonimo borgo medievale; Malgrate IV  e Malgrate V riutilizzate nella costruzione di una fontana e Reusa a fastigio di un arco; Gigliana utilizzata come lapide commemorativa nella chiesa del paese.
