IKEA isn’t that radical, but in comparison with many other companies it’s a role model. With the “IKEA goes renewable” project, IKEA has set itself the long-term goal of supplying all of its buildings with 100% renewable energy for its electricity and heating requirements. As things stand, the company has already passed the 50% mark. Moreover, IKEA wants to improve its energy efficiency rate by 25% compared to 2005 levels. That means, for example, that the lights in warehouses are only switched on when they are open or that buildings are fitted with better insulation. This will help to reduce electricity and energy usage, and in turn environmental impact.

IKEA non è estremamente radicale ma ha comunque un orientamento che dovrebbe servire da esempio per molte altre aziende. Con il progetto „IKEA goes renewable“ si è prefissata un importante obiettivo a lungo termine: fornire a tutti gli edifici IKEA energia elettrica e termica al 100 percento proveniente da fonti rinnovabili. Al momento è già stata superata la soglia del 50 percento. Inoltre IKEA intende migliorare l’efficienza energetica del 25 percento rispetto al 2005. Ciò significa ad esempio che i magazzini saranno illuminati solo se in uso e che gli edifici avranno un isolamento ottimizzato, riducendo il consumo di energia ed elettricità e limitando così anche l’impatto sull’ambiente.
