「センチネル・アジア」が発足してからとても助けられています。そしてこれまで被災した時には、ほとんどタイムラグがなく、災害発生からわずか2時間後ぐらいで、迅速にデータを入手することが出来ました。このことは「センチネル・アジア」のシステムが順調に稼働していることの証明です。昨年は何件か大きな災害がありました。まずは2006年5月のメラピ火山の噴火です。また同じ年の5月には、ジャワ島中央部のジョグジャカルタで地震もありました。これらの災害時には「センチネル・アジア」を通じて日本の地球観測衛星「だいち」のデータをもらいました。そして今年初め、2007年2月にはジャカルタが洪水に見舞われました。そして3月には西スマトラで大地震が発生。この2件の災害の時にも「センチネル・アジア」を通じてデータを入手し、とても役に立ちました。
