建築にまつわる歴史を色々と伺う中でとても興味深いエピソードを伺いました。当時日本から来た人たちは建築の工法の知識はあってもブラジルの木材に関する知識は全くありませんでした。この地域の森には日本の人々が来るだいぶ前から1888年の奴隷制廃止によって解放された人々が住んでいたようです。その先住民たちはブラジルの木や植物の特性を良く知っており、日本から来た人々と接触し、材料の特性や使用法を伝えたそうです。この時点で文化が混ざり合っており日本の日本家屋とは少し違う日本ブラジル家屋が生まれていたのだと驚きました。
