Ha pasado de una fase de estancamiento a la de incertidumbre. En la última década, el instituto ha abierto puertas, sin otro remedio que abrirlas. Los cineastas cubanos que forjaron el ICAIC, en una inmensa mayoría no están. Unos han muerto, otros viven fuera y muchos se agotaron. Los pocos que quedan son víctimas de esa incertidumbre que te nombré antes. No basta con que abran las puertas, si luego tu ímpetu y afán de desarrollo como creador tiene un límite; si las películas que haces no son proyectadas, si persisten los suspicaces que ven en cada plano un peligroso desafío a las normas rectoras. No basta con que abran las puertas, la norma de un joven es desafiar lo establecido. Un veinteañero quiere desarticular lo que en mis días de veinteañero desarticulé yo.
