For these students, we know the road ahead will not be easy. Even without having to worry about the costs for their continued education, there is no doubt that their studies will be difficult, and may at times seem futile and not worth the work they demand.
So, on October 29th, as we had the honor of joining with the 16 graduating students, their families, and the community leaders to celebrate this milestone, the there was a feeling of excitement and possibility that had not existed in previous graduations.  For the students, there was a newfound meaning in the schoolteacher’s and principal’s challenge to them to value their education, to not take it for granted, and to never underestimate the possibilities that it could provide for them and for their families and community.  And for the families of these students, there was a feeling of relief and hope, as they saw a new potential for their children and their community to have a brighter future.
