“Energy loss is one of the major problems of today’s world. It burns a hole in people’s pockets. While the ratio of heat loss in rooftops is 25%, it goes up to 35% in building facades. Thermal imaging of especially tall buildings is extremely difficult. We found out that if a 120 m2 house, which is heated through natural gas, is not insulated well enough, it may cost up to one thousand 200 TL financial loss for the homeowners,” said Kayan.

Çalışmaları hakkında bilgi veren İEÜ Elektrik – Elektronik Mühendisliği 4. Sınıf Öğrencisi Hakan Kayan, drone’u kendilerinin ürettiklerini belirterek, “Enerji israfı, günümüzün en büyük problemlerinden birini oluşturuyor. Bu sorun ekonomik olarak halkımızın cebini yakıyor. Isı kaybı oranı çatılarda yüzde 25 iken, binaların cephelerinde bu oran yüzde 35’e kadar çıkıyor. Özellikle yüksek binalardaki ısı yalıtımı kontrollerinin yapılması oldukça zor. Araştırmamızda, doğal gaz ile ısınan 120 metrekare bir ev iyi yalıtılmamışsa, yıllık olarak ev sahibine yaklaşık bin 200 TL’yi aşan maddi kayıp oluşturuyor” dedi.
