Il a occupé plusieurs postes à l’étranger après avoir rallié les rangs du Service des délégués commerciaux en 1973. Il a notamment été en poste à Kingston (Jamaïque), à Belgrade (Yougoslavie), à San Francisco (États-Unis), à Séoul (Corée) et à Beijing (Chine), puis il a été ambassadeur en Indonésie.

Mr. Ken Sunquist is an international business advisor and corporate director. In 2010, Mr. Sunquist retired from the public service as Assistant Deputy Minister, Asia and Africa, and Chief Trade Commissioner. He served in a number of foreign posts after joining the Trade Commissioner Service in 1973. His assignments abroad have included Kingston, Jamaica; Belgrade, Yugoslavia; San Francisco, USA; Seoul, Korea; Beijing, China; and Ambassador to Indonesia. His assignments at Headquarters included Director, Export Information Division; Director General, Trade Communications Bureau; Director, Trade Development Liaison and Special Projects Division; Co-ordinator, Trade Development Policy Secretariat; and Director General, Trade Commissioner Service Operations and Services. In the Department of International Trade he was Assistant Deputy Minister, International Business and Chief Trade Commissioner. Subsequently, in DFAIT, he was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, World Markets Branch, and then Assistant Deputy Minister, Global Operations. He is a member of the Board of Directors of CARE Canada, the Estey Centre for Law and Economics in International Trade, the Trade Facilitation Office Canada, and the Advisory Board of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Mr. Sunquist was appointed to the Board of Directors of CCC on May 13, 2004 as a public servant and reappointed on August 6, 2010 as a private sector member.
