Hon. Wayne Easter: No, that is not what I'm saying. As I said in my statement, and I believe Mr. Proulx said this before the committee as well, the RCMP was not involved in the decision made by the United States authorities--I want to be very clear on that--to arrest and deport Mr. Arar and did not at any time suggest to the United States authorities that Mr. Arar should be deported to Syria. That's what I said.

Évidemment, ce droit existe indépendamment de l'extradition. Si un étranger dont le dossier criminel grave est notoire tente d'entrer au Canada, on peut lui refuser l'entrée. De la même façon, il pourrait

une fois entré au Canada.

The Government has the right and duty to keep out and to expel aliens from this country if it considers it advisable to do so. This right, of course, exists independently of extradition. If an alien known to have a serious criminal record attempted to enter into Canada, he could be refused admission. And by the same token, he could be deported once he entered Canada.

Temporary workers also have limited access to social services while here, and are not eligible to bring their families with them or become full citizens. Some can spend years in Canada working in supposedly temporary contracts that are renewed continuously, and the workers too often spend more time alone in Canada than with their families.

This kind of isolation leaves such families vulnerable to exploitation from employers and landlords looking to take advantage of this reluctance to speak out. No parent should have to live in such conditions while trying to provide for their families. No children should be denied access to healthcare and education out of fear of deportation.

help you write a danger opinion. You may need this if you were granted Convention refugee or protected person status, but the government is trying to have you removed to your country of origin anyway on the grounds of serious or organized criminality or national security. It is a written opinion that you should not be deported because you are in danger in your own country, or because you present no danger to Canada, or both.

Cloud Computing denotes the use of remote servers (usually accessible over the Internet) to process or store information. Access data using a web browser. Saving files online to a server is an example. The software itself can also be hosted by an outside party. The interest of Cloud Computing is twofold. It is a form of file backup. It allows working on the same document from several workstations (several people working on the same document or a mobile worker on the move) of various kinds (laptop or fixed computer, tablet or even Smartphone). Its disadvantage is the lack of control of the documents’ owner on the storage and even on their geographical location.

. He became a strong supporter of Mackenzie and the Reform movement in the 1830s. In 1837, Gould, who believed in a peaceful solution to the grievances of the people, was nevertheless persuaded by approximately 50 of his neighbours to lead them to Montgomery’s Tavern on Yonge Street, headquarters for the planned attack on Toronto. He fought in the battle near the inn and was caught while fleeing to the United States. He was sentenced to transportation to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania), but his sentence was reduced to nine months’ imprisonment. In October 1838 he was pardoned under the general amnesty granted by Lord Durham [Lambton*].

Centrally placed in the first room are three photos: a young Jewish couple that radiates happiness discreetly, a young gypsy woman staring at us intensely, and four small Jewish kids who pose happily. Centrally placed on this ground floor are sober and tender objects: the last trails of a life that was abruptly interrupted. A handkerchief, a desperate note from the barracks or the departing train, a marionette made by a theatre director who spent months in the Dossin barracks, only to be deported and killed later. A tragic story is attached to each object. The monument ’15 August 1942, Lange Kievitsstraat, Antwerp’ by Philip Aguirre y Otegui can be seen in the room in the middle.
