Leave the village of L’Albiol on the Grauet (local path), the old track linking it with La Mussara which is still paved in many places. You climb gently around its bends to El Coll, where you can make out the ruined Coll and Grau farmhouses in what used to be La Mussara, at the foot of Els Motllats. Go down along the track that used to run from Reus to Prades, now a long-distance path (GR). It was traditionally paved although not in very good condition on some stretches. Not long after the Roure spring, under the La Mussara cliff, you leave the long-distance path to take the track that crosses the Peiró plain to Mas de Nebot and the remains of the Major spring ice pit. Further on you find the spring itself and then climb along the path back to L’Albiol, enjoying the same views as the old mountain dwellers.

Las Vegas is at the southern tip of the state near the plentiful supply of water and electricity from Boulder Dam and Lake Mead. It began as a tiny desert crossroads that offered legal gambling and entertainment to visitors from surrounding states. Over the years, it grew into the largest gambling and entertainment complex in the world. Today, Las Vegas offers over one hundred thousand hotel rooms, thousands of restaurants, hundreds of entertainment venues and dozens of gigantic casino complexes. It is the most popular tourist destination and the fastest growing city in the USA.

146:6.2 (1645.3) When Jesus sought to leave Cana and go to Nain, a great multitude of believers and many curious people followed after him. They were bent on beholding miracles and wonders, and they were not to be disappointed. As Jesus and his apostles drew near the gate of the city, they met a funeral procession on its way to the near-by cemetery, carrying the only son of a widowed mother of Nain. This woman was much respected, and half of the village followed the bearers of the bier of this supposedly dead boy. When the funeral procession had come up to Jesus and his followers, the widow and her friends recognized the Master and besought him to bring the son back to life. Their miracle expectancy was aroused to such a high pitch they thought Jesus could cure any human disease, and why could not such a healer even raise the dead? Jesus, while being thus importuned, stepped forward and, raising the covering of the bier, examined the boy. Discovering that the young man was not really dead, he perceived the tragedy which his presence could avert; so, turning to the mother, he said: “Weep not. Your son is not dead; he sleeps. He will be restored to you.” And then, taking the young man by the hand, he said, “Awake and arise.” And the youth who was supposed to be dead presently sat up and began to speak, and Jesus sent them back to their homes.

To open the Gathering, and to begin the learning process, both communities shared prayers and ceremony as a means of bringing all the participants towards a common mind and spirit. Pastor Brian Johnston, President of the Black Cultural Society and a Halifax Regional Municipality Police Officer gave the official welcome on behalf of the Society and offered a prayer of blessing to the Gathering. Gordon King, Executive Director, Micmac Native Friendship Centre introduced the sweetgrass ceremony which was lead by Bert Milberg. All participants took part in the ceremony after which there was an African drumming presentation performed by Dr. Henry Bishop, Curator of the Black Cultural Centre. Finally, welcome and honour songs were performed by the Eastern Eagle Singers.
