Four years ago, my son Félix passed away from a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. He was 20 years old. Despite his youth, Félix did more to make his friends and family aware of the beauty and fragility of life than I have ever done. The mark he has left can never be erased. His struggle was not against cancer but for life. Those who rubbed shoulders with him no longer have the same perspective on life, because the lesson came from someone who, more often than not, enjoyed life to the fullest. On his grave are the words “I have no regrets; I listened to my heart.” Those are his own words.

Per Laskin C.J. and Judson and Spence JJ., dissenting: The fact that the provincial statute and regulation are invoked against the advertiser and not against the medium, and that the Province may control advertising in the Province by businesses subject to provincial regulatory control, does not mean that in the case at bar there is no intrusion upon federal competence in relation to television, which embraces exclusive authority to deal with the content of television programmes.
Responsible tenure systems* are needed to secure access rights to land, fisheries and forests for poor people. Agricultural methods and technologies that work with and not against nature can help them produce more, and more sustainably. Promotion of crop diversification can ensure that agriculture produces a variety of foods suitable for health and nutrition, and also provide the necessary resilience to cope with climate change.

"To this day I have never regretted taking that step; quite the opposite. I am truly impressed by the many benefits and positives they have brought," explains Mr Bergmair-Russmann. "Not only does using Effective Microorganisms save money and effort, it's also all done without any chemicals involved: when we work with nature instead of against it we all benefit."

The COP talks in Paris this December are an opportunity to replace the business-as-usual sectoral approach with climate policy that is integrated with community development and that works with, not against, nature. For example, negotiators should insert explicit rules tying REDD+ projects to integrated community development that fulfils local needs for healthy air, food, water, housing, and medicine.

The other involves revenue-generating activities which may be linked to legal or criminal fronts. These are explained in further detail below.

5. Excited and determined athletes, smiling and devoted volunteers, friends and fans are what made this high-level event such an enriching human experience. I really felt as if I raced with them and not against them and crossed the finish line for a collective rather than an individual victory. That may be because it was Québec’s very first Ironman—perfectly organized and a complete success.

L'art.
In T 5/81 (OJ 1982, 249) the appellant submitted that, in the only communication sent, the examiner had failed to comment on claim 5, an omission which was contrary to Art. 96(2) EPC 1973 and R. 51(3) EPC 1973. The board noted that an appeal might relate only to a decision subject to appeal within the meaning of Art. 106(1) EPC 1973 and not to preparatory measures. Art. 96(2) EPC 1973 and R. 51(3) EPC 1973 applied exclusively to that preparatory procedure. A failure to comply with these requirements could not be taken into consideration unless it had some influence on the decision to refuse, as in the case of a breach of Art. 113(1) EPC 1973. The appellant's objection was unfounded, not only for this reason, but also because the examiner commented on the content of the claim in question by drawing attention to the possibility of formulating an independent claim based thereon. Since the appellant did not make use of that possibility, the examining division was not obliged to discuss it when refusing the application. The allusion thereto in the reasons for the decision did not form part of the ratio decidendi and was intended solely to demonstrate that the examining division was aware of the fact that the application might contain patentable subject‑matter. A refusal under these circumstances was not open to challenge.

Many of the French officers found campaigning in the North American wilderness not at all to their liking. The tedium of garrison duty at the remote frontier forts sapped their morale. Some of them were physically incapacitated and nearly driven out of their minds by the clouds of mosquitoes and stinging flies. Receiving news from home only once a year, and being unable to cope at such a remove with trouble that might arise, was hard to bear. Some of them were repelled by the seeming barbarism of the Indians and wanted nothing to do with them. The guerilla tactics of the Canadians, both regulars and militia, were remote from their concepts of how war should be waged. Even by European standards the French army was seriously deficient in reconnaissance and light infantry units trained for skirmishing and scouting duties. When army companies were detached to serve with the Canadians on their frontier raids their officers were disconcerted to discover that no mobile field hospitals or baggage trains went with them. Were they to be wounded they would have to make their way back to a French base as best they could before receiving medical attention. Their food supplies and equipment they had to carry on their backs like common soldiers. When rivers were encountered they had to wade or swim across. Resentful Canadians who were ordered to carry them across on their backs had an unfortunate habit of tripping in mid-stream. Some of the French officers declared that this was not warfare at all, and they refused to have any part in it. For them military operations required a secure, comfortable base, with servants, camp followers, clean linen, well-prepared food, and wine, close by the chosen field of battle or fortified place, where all the paraphernalia of siege warfare could be brought into play.
