Me53 is an immediate early/late gene found in all lepidopteran baculoviruses sequenced to date. Deletion of me53 results in a greater than 1000-fold reduction in budded virus production in tissue culture (8). We investigated the localization of ME53 using a ME53 construct fused to GFP. ME53:GFP adopted a primarily cytoplasmic distribution at early times post-infection, and a primarily nuclear distribution at late times post-infection. Additionally, at late times ME53:GFP formed distinct foci at the cell periphery. These foci co-localized with the major envelope fusion protein GP64, and frequently with VP39 capsid protein, suggesting these cell membrane regions may represent viral budding sites. Deletion of vp39 did not influence the distribution of ME53:GFP, however deletion of gp64 abolished ME53:GFP foci at the cell periphery, implying an association between ME53 and GP64. Despite the association of ME53 and GP64, ME53 fractionated with the nucleocapsid only after budded virus fractionation. Together this suggests that ME53 may be providing a scaffold that bridges the viral envelope and nucleocapsid.

Subsection (2) of s. 44 which expresses itself to be exceptional to subsection (1) has no application to Article 13.01. The question is, does it apply to 13.02 as an independent renewal or replacement agreement? Subsection (2) of s. 44 has no immediate application in this instance because if Article 13.02 provides anything, it is something other than an agreement of less than a year, and if s. 44(2) has any application, it is to a continuing agreement which has an operational period of less than one year. Unlike subsection (1), subsection (2) has no ‘deeming’ provision so that the terms of the subsection are not automatically transplanted into the collective agreement. Article 13.02 may well have been an attempt by the parties to establish a ‘bridge’ agreement between the expiry of the original term and the settlement of a replacement agreement. If so, the clause offends s. 44(2) which requires that such an agreement be “for a period of less than one year...”. Thus Article 13.02 would on such an interpretation be rendered inoperative by the statute. As I have already stated, s. 44(2) has no ‘deeming’ provision as is the case with s. 44(1), and therefore cannot thereby breathe life into Article 13.02.

Adult learners are situated differently than other students in our society. Except for isolated cases, adult learners have no organized voice to support their interests. "Education" in the mind of the public tends to mean either elementary, secondary, or postsecondary institutions, and so adults' educational needs remain largely outside of the public consciousness. Despite this, these programs provide opportunities for adults to follow their educational, career, and personal goals. I agree with the Honourable Bob Rae, Advisor to the Premier and the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, who recommends in his recent report,

Andrew Forster lives in Montreal. His production crosses installation, performance, dance, new-media and projects for public space. He studied at York University, Toronto, NSCAD, Halifax, and the Jan Van Eyck Academie, Maastricht, the Netherlands. Early work consisting predominantly of forgeries and deliberate biographical falsifications was encapsulated in an exhibition entitled Museum Stories at the Power Plant, Toronto. More recent work includes: a production of Samuel Beckett’s That Time (with Michael Fernandes); the winning design in a competition for a new entrance to Place des Arts, Montreal (with architects Atelier Big City); a performance for 75 people entitled En masse, (with choreographer Suzanne Miller); Cinéma, an outdoor multi-media performance for an audience seated indoors at the Société des arts technologiques, Montréal and Moat, a performance and video installation recorded in the moat surrounding Canada House on Trafalgar Square in London merging live performance with video surveillance technology in a work exploring surveillance, and political violence. His critical writing about performance, photography and visual art has appeared in several publications and catalogues, most recently in Artpapers and Fuse magazines. In 2003 Forster established the production company Push [Montréal] as an umbrella for collaborative and cross-disciplinary work. Since 2005 he has taught in the Department of Design and Computation Arts at Concordia University.

Second, because the CF Capability Based Planning process is still undergoing development, it is not yet fully mature. As a result, it was not possible to follow that process rigidly in the development of Leadmark. It is introduced here principally to show that the maritime force development process is firmly linked to the overall CF process. As indicated in Part 2, a follow-on document to Leadmark, the Maritime Commander's Strategic Capability Planning Guidance, will make extensive use of the capability based planning framework in developing the bridge between the conceptual guidance provided here and the short-term targets established in the annual Maritime Command business plans. These follow-on documents will provide the level of detail required by the Maritime and Air staffs (and in particular those in the requirements sections) to implement a rational process for the Horizon 2 (5-15 year) timeframe. This Part of Leadmark, therefore, will serve to translate the Naval Core Competencies into the CF Capability Areas, through the mechanism of competency components, as seen in the following diagram (and as will be discussed below):

So ultimately I see the role of modern loss control engineering not as a simple inspection tool but rather as a great way to bridge the technical aspects of a client’s world with the business world of insurance markets and placements. The ability to get involved with a wide variety of client industries and learn their business and find out what they need to be happy with their risk management is the most interesting aspect of the job. And if I could convince people I can’t help them with finding their stolen Honda Civic it would free me up to finish inspecting all those electrical rooms I have been putting off.

You mentioned filling the gap between the time a farmer decides to move into organic agriculture and the approximately three years it takes them to establish themselves in farming. The NRC-CPFC was created to bridge the gap between the invention and commercialization of photonics-based products by offering prototyping services to researchers from academia, industry and government. Researchers take their photonics-based inventions to the NRC-CPFC, which uses its leading-edge infrastructure and expertise to design and fabricate a prototype. The prototype can then be used to generate further funding to manufacture the product on a larger scale and potentially start a new company.
