My next adventure will involve a small group of GEEA (Gestion et exploitation d’entreprise agricole) students who will be doing apprenticeships on farms with English speaking managers. I have already met these students, assigned their user names and passwords, taken them on a tour of the platform and suggested that they do some archived lessons on specific grammatical points. I will be meeting them in a virtual classroom during the third week of April. At that time they will share their experiences and do their final presentations. It’s hard to believe that a full year will have elapsed since my initiation to online education! I have learned so much, and these experiences have given me the confidence to plan on using an ePortfolio with some of my students!

The impact of their presentation in France didn’t stop at the steps of the school, however. Publicity for Laura Secord Secondary and the CATT program reached into the community of St. Catharines, and beyond. Ms. Moore and Ms. Branston’s story was broadcast on the school’s website, and applauded in the city’s daily newspaper, the St. Catharines Standard. The students were also invited to deliver their presentation at City Hall, and Mr. Todd was invited to speak at the 2010 Ontario Co-Op Teacher’s Convention in Niagara Falls.

Bonjour, je suis Denis Saumure. I worked at the NEB between the period of 2003 to 2008 with Legal Services. During my time, I must say that I had great experiences, both at the professional level and at the personal level. I enjoyed all the time I spent out West, and especially with the NEB. I had the opportunity to have challenging work while I was there and wonderful colleagues, especially the ones at Legal Services. What I remember the most during my stay there was I guess the quote about "Gravitas" and of course the United Way Karaoke sing-a-long events where we could see colleagues and Members do their presentation. And, I'm back now in Ottawa, missing Calgary. And, to end, I'd like to wish the NEB all the best for its 50th anniversary and for all of the future years to come.
