The April 25, 2005 meeting ended the round of technical consultations. These consultations gave Members the opportunity to once again exchange view points regarding various aspects of extension (content and aims; effects on producers, consumers and national authorities). The Director-General of the WTO will now make a report to the Trade Negotiations Committee and the General Council based on the results of these consultations in keeping with the mandate set in the August 1, 2004 decision by the General Council (see WTO Document WT/L/579 (pdf 63 KB). The WTO Members are requested to agree on adequate measures regarding extension by July 2005, at the latest.

7.3 Given the level of potential loss identified in the assessment, a bank would be expected to implement a plan of action to address this exposure as needed. To some extent, this exposure has been captured under Pillar 1. However, banks still need to assess this risk through their ICAAP and stress testing. If the residual risk (not covered in Pillar 1) is deemed material, OSFI expects banks to capitalize it under their ICAAP framework. Moreover, a bank is expected to review its FX settlement risk profile on a regular basis, including whether size of potential loss, use of risk mitigation techniques and internal control practices combine to produce a result that is consistent with its overall risk appetite, and whether further adjustments to its FX settlement risk management strategy are necessary.

At the "General Affairs and External Relations" Council of 21 February 2005, Jean Asselborn, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and current President of the Council of the European Union, stated the position of the European Union on the subject of Croatia. After the meeting of the Ministers, President Asselborn declared: "The Council has had a new exchange of views on Croatia, and more specifically, on Croatia's cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY)." Minister Asselborn emphasised that the Ministers "adopted conclusions stating the position of the European Union on this matter. To open the negotiations, it will be necessary to be able to confirm by 17 March that Croatia will fully cooperate with the ICTY. There can be no ambiguity whatsoever on this matter."
