If it's coming from an acceptance by first nations of it as a desirable thing, and if they've got input and feel they've been part of the process, that they've had some choice, and it's not just something once again imposed by Parliament, then I think there's much more chance of acceptance and success.

CBP has been gradually deploying the system at various ports of entry since 2005; yet until now, truckers have had the option of filing their advance manifests using the automated system or to continue filing by fax. CBP has long said it planned to make the system mandatory once it was rolled out and working smoothly.

The program also maintains the benefits of the Atlantic Accords for Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2007, the two provinces were given the choice to continue to operate under the previous Equalization system or to permanently opt into the new program at any point prior to the expiry of the offshore accords. Having chosen the new program, Nova Scotia benefits from a guarantee that it will do at least as well, on a cumulative basis, as it would have under the formula agreed to at the time the Accord was signed. Newfoundland and Labrador no longer qualifies for Equalization.

With respect to wait times, patients have only waited longer than 28 days from receipt of request to provision of MAID in cases where a longer period was desired by the patient. Our audits have also determined that the majority have the option of receiving MAID within 2‐3 weeks of receiving a written request. This is exceptional in terms of access to a new clinical service with relatively few human resources. In several cases, we have also shortened the 10-day waiting period based on clinical need (i.e. impending loss of decision‐making capacity). These efforts have resulted in an optimized patient experience under challenging circumstances.

Judges who agreed to gather case-specific information were asked to complete three tasks after sentencing the offender. The first task involved completing a Case-Specific Questionnaire. The Case-Specific Questionnaire asked the judge to rank five sentencing principles (general deterrence, rehabilitation, punishment, specific deterrence, and incapacitation) in order to determine their importance in the sentencing of the particular case. The ranking ranged from 1 (main reason) to 5 (least important reason). The judge was also provided a list of factors about which the PSR may provide information. From this list, the judge was asked to identify those factors about which the PSR provided helpful information as well as to rank the top three factors that were most useful to the particular sentencing decision. The questionnaire also contained a few general questions about the PSR request, what was helpful and not helpful, and the PSR's overall value to the court.

As an alternative to its regular full scale conference and to address an ever growing demand, the SPS organised, from September through November 2006, an experimental training. Its goal was to promote a closer interaction between all the actors involved in proteomics-related domains in order to share the specific know-how, and to allow parties to familiarise with different techniques and new equipments. A total of 23 trainees participated, 4 from European countries and the others from the Geneva, Lausanne but also Zurich, Berne and Basel regions. The participants - spanning from students with limited experience to technicians and senior scientists interested in learning new methods - had the choice of 8 short applied courses (a total of 16 days of training) hosted by 8 laboratories all around Switzerland, including the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale of Lausanne, the Department of Clinical Pharmacology of the Berne University, the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics in Geneva and the Institute for Molecular Systems Biology in Zurich.

Your cultural interpreter is an Australian who was born in Sydney to parents who emigrated from India in the early 1960’s. As was the case in Canada at that time, Australia had an open door policy to attract young professionals from all over the world. My parents were given an option to emigrate to either Australia or Canada and both chose Australia as their home. I was raised and educated in Sydney, the country's largest city located on the east coast of Australia. I continued my higher education, completing a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) Degree at the University of Newcastle in NSW, approximately 200 km north of Sydney. I spent an additional eight years living and working as an Architect in Sydney before falling in love and marrying a Canadian. We married in Sydney but the mutual decision was to relocate to Canada. We have a five year old son with dual citizenship and we continue to live and work in Canada’s capital, Ottawa. I am fortunate enough to return back to Australia on an annual basis to visit family and friends. Over the past 10 years I have also assisted with intercultural training provided to Government of Canada employees prior to their assignments in Australia.

de tester un plus petit nombre de marques et de prédire les concentrations de produits chimiques pour la plupart des marques en se servant d'un calcul mathématique.

The Regulations also require that an expanded list of toxic chemicals found in tobacco smoke be reported for the above-mentioned classes of tobacco products with three exceptions: cigars, pipe tobacco and smokeless tobacco. Cigars and pipe tobacco are exempt from this requirement as standardized test methods have not yet been developed to test for the smoke from these products. Smokeless tobacco is exempt from the requirement as this product does not produce smoke. The list of reportable chemicals found in mainstream smoke (inhaled by the smoker) and side stream smoke (inhaled by non-smokers) is being increased from three (tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide) to more than 40 different chemical compounds. Manufacturers and importers must also report on a list of 33 chemicals found in whole tobacco (unburned tobacco). However, the Regulations allow for limited reporting for manufacturers with small market shares of the total sales of a designated product in that year in Canada. Additionally, for tobacco products where the level of selected chemicals in smoke has been demonstrated through laboratory testing to be similar among brands, tobacco manufacturers have the option to test a smaller number of brands using a mathematical calculations [sic]. Using this "benchmarking" provision in the Regulations would significantly reduce testing costs to industry while ensuring Canadians can still be fully informed of the range and level of toxic emissions in tobacco products.

1.2.3 The Mission has been conducting analysis of salary and benefits in preparation for the next survey which was to take place in December 1998. The Mission is concerned about differences in calculating base pay as a result of using two methodologies: "gross" and "base + allowances". The two different pay methods date back to 1990 when a salary and benefits team determined that the base + allowances system was the more common form of compensation in the Japanese market. Employees on strength at the time were given the option to stay on the "gross" pay system or switch to "base + allowances". All new employees taken on strength since were to be automatically paid on base + allowances. There is concern over the payment of transportation and fringe allowances and how these figures should be adjusted if and when a salary increase is approved. The Mission will also try to increase its marker base this year to have a better market sampling of compensation packages. There are also issues related to non-office workers (GS) and OR pay scales which have been in place for several years and which may not accurately represent commensurate salaries. Normal procedures are to compare actual positions and compensation to those of the marker organizations.
