The high-level jury of the UCLG City of Bogotá Peace Prize has selected the five finalists for the prize. In this session, these finalists will present their initiatives for the jury and audience. The elimination of rail freight subsidies, the introduction of trade liberalization under CUSTA and NAFTA, and the commencement under WTO is having a positive impact. Canadian farmers produced 11 million tonnes of oilseed in 1998, which had a farm-gate value of $3.7 billion. The processing industry will purchase 5.1 million tonnes in 1998, worth $1.7 billion. The direct economic value of the oilseed processing industry to the Canadian economy is now at about $3.6 billion, which is seed purchase plus value-added benefits.
