Ils ne me l'ont pas déclaré en ces mots, mais ils m'ont laissé croire qu'ils n'étaient pas vraiment tenus d'amorcer des discussions sérieuses avec moi en tant que représentante des femmes autochtones au pays.
At that point, we submitted a proposal, which they looked at, and then I met with representatives of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development. They clearly said to me that they did not have to listen to me because I did not represent the aboriginal women in this country. They said there was another group that had our regional representatives sitting with them, that had other aboriginal women sitting with them, and basically they did not have to listen to me. They didn't say it so clearly, but they didn't really have to engage in serious discussions with me as an aboriginal woman leader of this country.

As another example, the Council could play a significant role in bringing about what was described by the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador during a meeting with representatives of the Canadian Association of Administrators of Labour Legislation (CAALL) as the struggle to bring about a cultural shift - how to change the old-style labour relations. This theme underlies the options relating to both the FMCS and the establishment of a Council. It is part of what Newfoundland indicated was a program it was considering which included "the movement to a social marketing model where the benefits of positive employment relations are promoted" and which may hold potential for encouraging a culture shift".5 The Labour Relations Agency is exploring the possibility of working with employer and labour groups to develop such a campaign in Newfoundland and Labrador.

D’autres études menées sur des animaux ont laissé croire que la vitamine E pourrait aider à protéger la moelle osseuse de la toxicité des médicaments, mais aucune étude n’a été menée chez des humains infectés par le VIH pour confirmer ces effets.
When the body is working hard to fight infection or break down drugs, more free radicals are produced. These free radicals can damage cells, in the same way that rust can damage a car. Test-tube studies suggest that excess free radicals may also damage the energy producing portions of the cell (called mitochondria). Mitochondrial damage may cause muscle weakness and fatigue, symptoms that are associated both with HIV infection and the use of anti-HIV drugs such as AZT. One group of researchers found evidence of increased free radical damage in people with HIV and in laboratory mice treated with AZT. They also found that high doses of vitamins E and C help protect mouse muscle cells from damage. Other animal studies have suggested that vitamin E might also help protect the bone marrow from drug-associated toxicity, but no human studies in HIV-positive people have confirmed these effects.
