Other ocean nations, too, share these concerns. In recent decades - all around the world - our attitudes toward our oceans have changed. They're no longer seen as limitless. Their increasing vulnerability - over both the short and long terms - is a harsh reality that we're facing. Nationally, regionally and globally.

However, there is one thing that I will disclose: I got sick to my stomach that day from eating way too many Sour Patch Kids. The roof of my mouth was practically torn to shreds. Imagine a very well-stocked candy store—Sugar Mountain or the Bulk Barn—with a seemingly endless supply at every single coffee station throughout the entire Facebook campus.

Russia has boundless resources to draw upon, and the steadfast courage of its people to bolster its armies. It can be a formidable foe, and a difficult one for an enemy to attack. To the west lies the wealth of Europe and access to the wider world through a port on the Baltic. To the south, there are fellow Slavs and Orthodox Christians in the Balkans to be incorporated into a Greater Russian Empire. And beyond, there is a wider world awaiting conquest by the sons of the Mother Russia.

Ask the students to think of ways to find out if a planet is hospitable to life, or even to check for actual life. The most important requirement for life is the presence of liquid water. The planet should be far enough from its host star so that water, if present, won’t evaporate. But it shouldn’t be too far, otherwise the water would freeze. Also, an atmosphere is probably necessary to protect life from harmful radiation and large temperature variations. In the future, astronomers might have developed such high-quality telescopes that they can see an exoplanet’s colour, from which they could deduce whether it has vegetation.

[3]        The Attorney General contends that the legal aid tariff should be presumed to be the normal measurement for a lawyer paid from the public purse (relying on R. v. Cairenius (2008), 232 C.C.C. (3d) 13 (Ont. S.C.J.), and R. v. Magda, [2001] O.J. No. 1861 (QL) (S.C.J.), at para. 56), but no such limitation is set out in s. 694.1(3).  The legal aid tariff is unilaterally set by the Crown based on its own policies and priorities and cannot, in our view, be taken as conclusive, although it is a significant factor to be taken into account.  As Sopinka J. commented in Egan v. Canada, [1995] 2 S.C.R. 513, “[i]t is not realistic for the Court to assume that there are unlimited funds to address the needs of all” (para. 104).

A few months later, on 11 June 1878, the new piano was shown at the Universal Exhibition in Paris when Liszt was honorary Président of the jury reponsible for judging the musical instruments exhibited. The greatest virtuoso of all time waxed enthusiastic about this piano offering 'inexhaustible possibilities'. 'Everything that can be done on the normal piano has been done' he said, 'the future belongs to a piano that, without abandoning the instrument's character, will offer new resources'. The Mangeot firm was awarded a gold medal and could therefore be counted among the best piano builders of the period.
