It also proposes an epistemological shift in perspective with particular emphasis on a) integrating pedagogical actions with theories on social inequality, especially theories by Bourdieu, Foucault and Goffman; b) the significance of the classroom as the junction where social inequality meets, i.e. gender, ethnicity, talent, language, social class, etc.; c) determining the measures necessary to diminish social exclusion at the level of the microcosm comprised by the classroom. The project equally inquires into the role teacher training and the curricula play in this area.

Geotagged photographs of the city areas considered (in)secure will then be produced. In a second step, structural-spatial factors that citizens perceive and label as (in)secure will be identified. At a later point, these factors will be catalogued and both qualitatively and quantitatively described. For the quantitative description, detailed measurements will be carried out (using laser rangefinders, light meters, and sound-level meters). From this basis, the structural-spatial factors will be visualised in the form of hybrid maps. The citizens participating in the research will include men and women, people from various age groups, and Germans and migrants; security experts will also be included among the participants.

Overall, the innovation policy instruments used so far in the new "Bundesländer" can be deemed appropriate for the main goals of the federal government of (1) strengthening the industrial research productivity, (2) interlinking economy and science and (3) supporting innovative firms, new firms and access to capital markets. However, in spite of all efforts, a fundamental turn around in the development path of the East German innovation system can as yet not be detected although some indicators give rise for hope and it is has to be reminded that changes of such magnitude have a time horizon of decades rather than years.

The European Commission, after seeking the opinion of the Consultation Forum and in coordination with the Regulatory Committee, determines every three years the product groups to be dealt with in a working plan. The first Working Plan was defined for the period from 2009 to 2011. The second Working Plan applies for the period from 2012 to 2014. On the basis of preparatory studies, which analyse the environmental impacts of the products, requirements for the environmental performance of the selected product groups are defined.

Auf dieser Grundlage werden im dritten Teil der Untersuchung die bisherigen Modelle eines "europäischen" Strafverteidigers überprüft und eigene Lösungsvorschläge unterbreitet.

The study is divided into three parts. In the first part, real, concrete cases and problems encountered by the criminal defense in transnational European criminal procedure are analyzed. The second part involves the identification of national and transnational principles relevant to criminal defense, the foundations on which they are based, and approaches taken to these and related issues throughout history. This appraisal is intended to scrutinize existing pan-European principles of criminal defense with regard to their usefulness in solving existing practical problems as well as to develop further principles for this purpose. On this basis, the previous models of a European criminal defense institution and a "European" defender will be studied in the third part and new recommendations submitted.
