Storing performance-related data of various SAP landscapes in-memory allows not only to identify industry standards but also to provide benchmarking features across SAP systems and customer landscapes. This service is technically feasible thanks to a seamless integration of SAP HANA with, e.g., open source components such as an R server, and Java web applications. On this basis, a modern and highly responsive SAP Fiori-based user interface can be applied to retrieve various analytics and simulations as self-service tasks.

In analogy to conventional logistics, autonomous logistic processes are in need of knowledge to perform their task. Data, information, and knowledge are the key resources which ensure the quality of the logistic process. Knowledge management is required to support autonomous logistic processes by context-sensitive providing of knowledge. Furthermore, it has to be considered, that actors in these processes act in a competitive way. Consequently, information and knowledge should be treated as tradable goods which potentially have a high utility for their consumers. The research objective of this sub-project is to provide the constituent elements of a service-based infrastructure for knowledge management in highly distributed, cooperative, and dynamic environments. Additionally, a high amount of actors has to be considered, which supports autonomous logistic processes. A special focus lies on the conceptualisation and realisation of an agent-based software system which implements the knowledge management functionalities. Starting with a systematic analysis of knowledge oriented system architectures, the research within this sub-project identified requirements for knowledge management in autonomous processes. An approach based on roles and parameters has been developed to enable knowledge management in this domain. Roles are complex behaviour patterns which are incorporated by agents. By the help of these roles, complex knowledge management functionalities, e.g., retrieval, distribution, and requests, are enabled. Details of this approach have been presented and published on international workshops and conferences. Furthermore, an ontology as the formal representation of domain knowledge has been developed, which provides the basic concepts for the specification of transport, information, and manufacturing logistics. A CRC-wide system platform has been specified and prototypically implemented. This platform may be used for the analysis of logistic systems and evaluation of autonomous logistic processes by agentbased simulation.

The objective of the research project was to find solutions for the construction of a seven-storied timber house in compliance with construction regulations in Vienna. The legal basis for this analysis is the draft of the new building regulations of the City of Vienna which draw from directives of the Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering OIB (directive 2 on fire protection). The structural components of buildings with up to seven storeys (building class 5) are required to have a fire resistance of 90 minutes and, in addition, need to be composed of building materials with at least class A2 fire performance according to EN 13502-1. However, OIB directive 2 also notes that these requirements may not necessarily apply if there is solid proof of measures that guarantee equivalent protection. Two possible measures for compensation were compiled in the course of this analysis - one is based on structural measures and the other on measures in installation engineering. These solutions form the basis for further discussion and can not be seen as general compensatory measures in the construction of timber houses in building class 5.

There is also a general interest in the reliability of procedural declarations of the parties, particularly declarations which open a new procedure. Thus someone who performs the required acts acquires the status and the procedural rights of a party, e.g. as applicant, opponent or appellant, on the date of completion of the necessary requirements. Procedural declarations cannot be negated on the basis of instructions not yet known to the representative when acting vis-à-vis the EPO (T 309/03, OJ 2004, 91; in this case a representative filing an appeal unaware that the applicant did not wish to appeal). Nor are procedural statements valid if they are filed by a person who is not entitled to do so (J 28/86, OJ 1988, 85). On this basis the approval of the text of a patent application was held invalid in J 12/95. Both the approval and a divisional application were sent to the EPO together by courier, as ordered by the representative, but before they had arrived an employee faxed only the approval to the EPO. The Receiving Section therefore held the filing of the divisional application to be invalid. However, the board found that there was convincing evidence that this transmission took place against the express order of the authorised representative and could not therefore be treated as a valid approval. The divisional application had to be considered to have been filed within the time limit laid down in R. 25(1) EPC 1973 (R. 36(1) EPC).

The materials currently used pose a high health risk due to their lead content. Therefore, lead-free materials with comparable or novel properties must be found. For this purpose, she investigated in particular thin crystalline potassium-sodium-niobate layers and examined the relationship between the crystalline structure and the ferroelectric order. Dorothee Braun's doctoral thesis laid the foundation for further, targeted research into the structure-property relationship of oxide layers, especially perovskite structures. The experimental and theoretical work was carried out at the working group Ferroelectric Oxide Layers at the IKZ.
